United Kingdom Trouble Every Day (Limited Edition) (2001) 4K UHD (Eureka)

Quote:

The first excursion into genre cinema by the celebrated French auteur Claire Denis, who had made her name with her previous features Chocolat and Beau Travail, Trouble Every Day is an erotically charged exploration of our darkest human desires and a key film in the development of what later came to be known as the New French Extremity movement.

Dr Shane Brown (Vincent Gallo, Buffalo ’66) and his new wife June (Tricia Vessey, On the Edge) are honeymooning in Paris, though Shane has other plans for their trip. He is hoping to track down his former medical colleague Léo Semenau (Alex Descas, Bastards) and discuss a past study into the human libido. But Léo doesn’t want to be found – he is living in obscurity to hide his own wife, Coré (Béatrice Dalle, Inside), who has developed an insatiable, cannibalistic lust as a result of Léo’s outlandish experiments. A lust that Shane is beginning to feel, too…

A dark and lyrical rumination on the pleasures of the flesh, Trouble Every Day is a remarkable work of extreme cinema that challenged critics and audiences upon its release before it came to be lauded as a modern classic. The Masters of Cinema series is honoured to present the film on 4K UHD for the first time anywhere in the world from a brand new restoration.

WOW! Claire Denis in 4K was definitely not on my bingo card. I love her films and will get this one asap even though the BD that was released through VS wasn’t bad.

Regarding Trouble Every Day, we’re working with an extremely short licensing window, and the limited run reflects what we realistically expect to sell within that timeframe. We appreciate your understanding and support.

Did not expect this to be the first Claire Denis first film to get a 4K period, but a more than welcome pick. Immediately preordered earlier as soon as I saw Eureka's post around 10 AM EST.

Anyway, someone should put out a 4K of HIGH LIFE, and a decent Blu-Ray of STARS AT NOON. And a Blu-Ray of U.S. GO HOME (rights issues regarding the music licensing, IIRC) would also be lovely.

If anyone doesn’t want to go in blind, this is streaming on Mubi. Along with free trials they seem to always have offers on - I don’t think I’ve ever paid full price for them

Hope this sells well for them. They can't be making much from it.
This is a film that stayed with me long after seeing it, so immediate pre-order for me.

Watched it long time ago. I remember it didn't blow me away, but it was unforgettable.

I don't remember ever pre-ordering through Eureka's site. Do they charge for pre-orders right away, or just before shipping?

One of the reasons I do not mind usually ordering from Eureka directly, even if the prices can be slightly inflated due to USD-GBP conversion and such, is because their prices are not only great, but they offer free worldwide shipping on all orders. (And they're just a magnificent label of course.)

And when it comes to something as limited as this, I'd rather pay the extra few $ and secure my own unit directly from the company than order from my (mind you, reliable) third-party go-tos where distributor issues and such might happen.

I picked up the VS blu fully expecting this to never get a 4K release, so this is a nice surprise. Well, not for my wallet, but just to have on the format. Not sure if I'll double dip here but awesome for those that don't have it in their collection.
