Sesame Street Presents: Follow That Bird (1985) - 40th Anniversary

This year is the 40th anniversary of Sesame Street Presents: Follow That Bird (1985)… I would love to finally see a Blu-ray release of this classic!

I reached out to Warner Bros. via email at whv@wbd.com to request the title, and reminded them about the film’s anniversary and that it is not available in HD in the US to my knowledge. (And of course, how it would appeal to the nostalgia of Gen-X and entertain their kids as well…)

I also mentioned it would probably make a great Warner Archive release as well… Not sure if it’ll accomplish anything, but I had to try, as I’ve always had a soft spot for this film…

It’s a solid production all around, and it absolutely still holds up 40 years later after first seeing it screened at a local Drive-In Theater with my family!

Truly a film deserving of a physical media release to celebrate its 40th Anniversary!

I loved this movie as a kid, and despite having warm memories of it, I didn't remember much about it. I recently revisited it with my two nieces, both of whom are Sesame Street fans, and was so pleased that it holds up exceptionally well! Not only did my nieces enjoy it, all of the adults in the room enjoyed it too. I thought about holding out for the bluray, since obviously that's preferable, but I didn't want to wait and risk it coming out after the little ones have lost interest in movies like this. So I snagged the DVD for cheap, and it's been put to good use. Still hoping for a bluray though - this movie deserves more love!

I just watched The Muppet Movie on Disney+ with 4k HDR and Big Bird looked great in his cameo scene.
