As the mask is clearly present here, then theres a deal of something sort already at play.
Opps you are right. Horror Inc is Cunningham.

I can't say I'm feeling too optimistic about this. The remake was better than the vast majority of the slurry or horror remakes from that era, but it still completely lacked the character and soul of the original series. I don't expect things to improve based on what we've seen so far.

It felt like they were working through a tick list throughout the movie, didn’t care for it at all.

Of that era of horror remakes, the ones I loved were The Hills Have Eyes, TTCM and Dawn Of The Dead, the rest were mostly poor.

I like House on Haunted Hill, which I treat as the film that started the horror remake cycle, but that's about it really for me.
I seem to be in the minority in that I didn't like the Dawn of the Dead remake. It had way too many characters, and was often illogical to an absurd degree. They have a fairly secure place to live, stocked with food and other useful items, and for no sensible reason decide to go and island that none of them is even familiar with...

Lol I agree. But at least something came out of all this I guess. I'm just going to repost this from another thread

"They stopped using the same mold or at least a variation of the original part 3 mold or part 5/6 recast. Most of the masks in the original series were made by using the basic structure of the part 3 mask . For example, Part 5's Roy mask & Part 6 is a recast from the main Part 3/4 mask. Part 8's mask is a cast from the part 6 mask. And the Jason Goes to Hell mask was a cast from a Part 7 promo mask. So they are all kinda related in a sense. Unfortunately by Jason X they started using their own mold and well you can see the results on that. It always amazed me how part 8 mask looked like Jason to me despite the different paint job, whereas Jason X & FVJ looked like imposters even tho they had the "correct" chevron paint."

Yeah, fair point. In terms of the whole package though, Zombie Jason in part 6 can’t be beat. Love the detail.

I thought The Hills Have Eyes had really compelling characters, so things hit harder with that extended centrepiece attack. Brutal and horrifying.

Victor Miller:

Holds the copyright to the original screenplay in the US, including the characters, settings, and plot elements from the first movie.
Horror Inc.:

Owns the rights to the franchise outside of the US, including the characters, settings, and other elements, but also has some rights to the original movie within the US.
New Line Cinema:

Owns the trademark for the franchise name, characters, and locations, which allows them to control the use of those elements in new projects.

Its funny cause Victor Miller didn't create the classic Jason that we all know today per se. Undead Jason is kinda its own thing. I know Stan Lee made the arguement before that it still counts even if all you did was planted the seeds. Though, Stan Lee use to kinda get some heat for this, partly due to the whole Kane and Finger fiasco.

He does not have rights to Adult Jason. The question is does he have the rights to the Vorhees name.

Comic example is Baby Cable and Adult Cable would have different creators.

It is. All they had to do was make a simple license deal.
The game was what was wiped out because of this.

Kinda similar to Venom as well considering the amount of hosts.

Yes, yet they all fold up to a single parent. Friday the 13th has three parents and possible one Step Parent in Paramount.

They showed a lot more care and consistency for this than New Line did with Freddy Krueger's glove. After Dream Warriors, they stopped bothering to even try and make the glove look the same in each new film, and it changed wildly between each movie.
It took Wes Craven to restore it to its original appearance, and that was only for a brief chat show sequence in New Nightmare.

I think we need to be mindful of the fact that F13th movie and most of its sequels were, in conception and execution, trash. And the people that conceived and executed them were often sleazy, unscrupulous people. Cunningham first among them.

Now. That could be a positive and/or a negative thing. Positive in the sense that it might result in something out of left field. But on the negative side, the chances of it being good are very slim.

Who knows, though. Cunningham might leave it to others to do whatever they wish while getting paid for the use of his property. I don't know about you but the idea of getting paid not to make films sounds good to me. I've been training for it for forty years.

I too would like a low budget version again. I also think going for an indie horror director is the right choice. I feel like Adam green needs a win and a chance.

With all do respect to Terrifier, big no to Leone. While the Friday franchise certainly features its share of carnage, torture porn it isn't.
