I saw Lilo & Stitch in 3-D. For my money, it was essentially a bas-relief, and not a very good one at that.

I saw the picture on a screen approximately 35 feet wide and sat a similar distance away.

Most of the time, I felt I was watching a game of "Hide the Parallax." I observed several extended portions of Lilo & Stitch without glasses and could find precious little disparity on display in many shots. A fair number of scenes looked positively flat. But eventually, a shot would come along that exhibited something akin to proper relief. There were even a handful of instances of negative parallax with floating windows at the vertical edges, and these were a sight for bored eyes!

[Show spoiler]CGI scenes set on another planet or aboard a spaceship exhibited reasonably good stereoscopic space and volume.

I've seen coins that looked deeper than portions of this film.

Though it is not my usual cup of tea, I found Lilo & Stitch very enjoyable. I went to see it strictly for the sake of 3-D, and in that regard, I was disappointed. But I found the story suitably amusing, heartwarming, and entertaining. The cast is appealing, especially the 6-year-old lead, who is amazing and adorable-- possibly one of the best child actresses I have ever seen in any movie.

Never seen the original, without a 3D blu ray, I doubt I'll ever see this either.

Oh, yeah, she is adorable, hope she can still have a somewhat normal childhood despite being in one of the most popular movies ever...

Following debate on the merits of this studio 3D conversion vs a theoretical EYEPOP-3D version... here's the completely unofficial trailer conversion, just for fun...

Side-by-Side version also available on EYEPOP-3D's YouTube Channel.

They're doing some kind of a fan thing, not sure if it will include 3D showings
