I picked up the "Fabulous" set last year.... ironically, it's anything but.
It's so sad that the US/UK releases have been terrible, but the German one was great and had a lovely Collector's set. Honestly, I may even buy Knight Rider if it helps us get a 4K UHD Miami Vice, but my God, there has to be subtitles at the very least. I'm a subtitle kinda guy, so no option really annoyed me. I ended up buying all 5 seasons on Prime Video because they all had subtitles, so I sacrificed the audio & picture for the subs, but that's too big a deal breaker for me. |

I thought that episode handles those themes in quite a forward thinking way for the mid 80s.

Seems to be a debate on expired rights vs content (https://www.reddit.com/r/MiamiVice/c...versal_action/)
But, who knows... suffice to say, it's not on any streaming platforms (unless somebody knows better?). Is it on the latest Blu-Ray releases? Also just checked Prime UK and noticed that there's only seasons 1-4 on there too... no season 5 ![]() |

Evan is an absolutely amazing episode. I got the first three seasons on DVD many years ago and it is absolutely one of the top standout episodes that has really stuck in my mind.
One of the reasons it stuck is because of the way it perfectly used Peter Gabriel's song "Biko". Which makes me think, is the reason it's not available because Gabriel (or his label) wanted too much money to renew the streaming usage rights? I doubt the lack of availability is due to unsuitable themes. If there's any episode that would warrant removal for that reason it would surely have to be the pro-IRA episode guest starring Liam Neeson. |

Reminds me of when the BBC banned that episode of TNG because Data said Ireland was reunified. Because of where we are right now, it's laughable, but back then I can see why.

It was more because he was saying terrorism was integral in leading to the reunification of Ireland. I wouldn't have banned it but I can understand the reasoning.

If I had to guess specifically, it's probably because Gabriel still owns all his catalogue, he never sold the publishing, and he probably doesn't like Biko being used where the police kill people. |

The US set was down to £53 on amazon UK inc delivery and I had it in my basket and just read the site review to refresh my memory and no I thought against it.
Hopefully they are trying to clear stock in lew of a 4K upgrade coming. |
