Your post history documents your pervasive and negative opinions about every TV technology currently in existence. I am sorry that you took my comment that way, but your incessant complaining warranted criticism in my opinion.

I know that you are waiting with baited breath for Micro-LED TVs to hit the market below their current six figure price tags, but the same TV manufacturers that you routinely criticize for one thing or another will be the very companies that bring them to the consumer market and you can almost certainly expect them to be offered at premium prices for a damn long time. It will be ages before you can get a Micro-LED TV at a price that you likely would consider to be fair, whatever mythical figure that is for you.

What would be refreshing would be to read a comment from you that is positive for a change. Surely something must make you happy in this exciting landscape of ever evolving display technology?
I will criticize any brand of TV or tech if it's justified. I'm not a Fanboy either way. I'm not attacking Sony TVs, they're great, but some of the other brands are too. In my opinion, there are too many shills, fanboys, and money-seeking YouTube influencers in this hobby.

The time is overdue for Sony to be called out on their super high prices. Sony TVs are good, but they're not that good. I believe many of the consumers are catching on and not purchasing Sony TVs, they are getting their butt kicked by Samsung and LG in the OLED market.

Sony might eventually leave the OLED market, there are some hints of that possibility.

I've been waiting on Micro-LED because I don't mind waiting. I'm not a person who feels the need to upgrade a TV every year or two to keep up with the Joneses or have the latest and greatest.

That's kind of the point; the vast majority of your "justified" critiques emphasize what you think are negatives. How about giving some equal time to what you like about a product?

I don't care how often other people spend their money or on what. When I bought my 85" Sony Bravia 9 last July it replaced my five year-old 85" Sony X900F.

And no, my previous TV did not wind up in a landfill. I gave it to a friend who is happily using it to this day. He in turn gave his 8 year-old TV away to someone else who is also still using it.

LG's New Flagship 65" G5 is $3,299. so Sony's New Flagship 65" XR80M2 QD OLED TV is $700 higher priced, but....

With Sony's XR80M2 you get the following additional benefits:

1.) Our exclusive $400. store credit, and

2.) Sony CORE 2 years free of lossless/uncompressed of all of Sony Pictures and Columbia Pictures movies & 10 certificates for your choice of future movie releases, and

3.) We are also including Sony's 55" X77L 4K HDR LED TV at no charge.

4.) We have a couple additional savings for our clients.

Hey Robert, I've seen a mixed reception for it so far. Some of comments talk about pricing, panel size or that Sony isn't entering the brightness war with 2500 nits.

I'm not too worried about peak brightness I've got the Bravia 9 for that. My hope for the B8 II is that Sony focused on tuning it for near black handling. It's a long time bugaboo with OLED that certain PQ values are just MIA or not fully distinguished from the neighboring value. I have always had a hard time finding a good TV for classic black and white films. LCD has the blue backlight which doesn't work, and LG's white subpixel has its own issues, but Samsung's panel if tuned properly is the closest we can get to RGB OLED for now. Extremely good uniformity, viewing angles, and no pink/green tint. I'll just have to wait and see what calibrators say about it.

Do you not have any negotiating/haggling skills? Do people in North America just pay the MSRP or retailers asking price and call it a day?

MSRP is called RRP in my country. Sony’s RRP for the 77” A95L was $9500 here. 6 weeks after the A95L was released in my country in October 2023 I decided I wanted to buy one, I negotiated on the price going back and forward a few times between retail competitors, I walked away with a 77” A95L for $6500, which in USD was the equivalent of $4300 at the time. The A95L is rare where I live, I could probably sell it for more than I paid for it. In early 2024 about 6 weeks after I bought mine it was announced by Sony that the A95L in all sizes was being discontinued in my country, it was only available here for 3 months before Sony made that choice. A lot of people here that are interested in the best TVs regretted not buying an A95L when they had the chance, and all because they thought it would drop significantly in price so they were holding out for a better deal/price.

The Sony Store Credit can also be used to take the 3 year extended warranty so you will have a total of 4 Years of Warranty Coverage for All Parts and Labor with In-Home Service.

All TV brands have moderate sales a few months after the launch, including Sony. Once the sales start we have to reduce or sometime eliminate our exclusive 10% store credit.

The lowest prices are Black Friday, which is around the end of December and again when the model year ends and the next generations of TVs start to ship, so we see close-out promotions.

I’m holding off on a 4k tv purchase until I see how the upcoming Panasonic 65” Z95B stacks up against the Sony Bravia 8ii.

You don't really understand the level of greed in North America. Negotiate, that's Just take a look at the car market here. Nobody negotiates anymore. Just about everything is no-haggle.

Yes, I will criticize a TV or tech if justified. I refuse to worship at the altar of a consumer electronics company or any company, for that matter. I don't care if it's Sony, LG, Samsung, Apple, Toyota, Honda, or any other brand.

I like Sony TVs, but I won't be taken in by them. When I see greed, it must be called out.

BTW, I don't have an issue with your 85-inch Bravia purchase, except that it might kind of pricey for a min-led, but still not obscene like $4,000 for a 65-inch OLED.

Until I see a direct quote from Sony to the contrary I am inclined to believe Robert.

Sounds exhausting.

I would rather not concern myself with the price of luxury items that I have no intention of buying. I am also pretty confident that each of us can decide if a product is worth its price all by our little selves.

It's pretty easy to negotiate on the price, especially if you are paying in cash. It doesn't always work, but it is painless enough to try.

Two things to consider, one is things are frequently different in the UK than how the manufacturers market and promote their premium TVs in the US market.

Also as Vilya said we have not heard this from Sony.

Also wanted to say that Sony's New Flagship BRAVIA 8 II has the new 2025 4th Generation QD OLED panel that costs more than last year's QD OLED pane. Same is true with Samsung's New 2025 Flagship S95F QD OLED TV is higher priced than Samsung's 2024 S95D QD OLED TV.

Sony seemingly bakes tariff penalty into its new US TV pricing

https://www.theverge.com/news/645832...ricing-tariffs

"Using the 65-inch model as an example, the Bravia 8 II is priced at $3,999.99. That’s $500 more expensive than the starting MSRP of the A95L, which was released in 2023."

Anyway, you really need to stop capping for Sony as if you're in some kind of Sony cult. They're no different from any other greedy corporation.

You really need to back up your claims with actual quotes from Sony, but all you can come up with is a single sentence of hearsay from Vincent who is based in the U.K.

I mean no disrespect to Vincent, but I would like to see the actual Sony press release. Also, at no time have you provided any evidence, not even hearsay, that Sony raised its prices due to tariffs. Your "Verge" link above merely speculates upon the possibility of tariffs being a factor.

"The Verge has reached out to Sony for details on whether this pricing is meant to factor in the new tariffs."

I continue to believe Robert, an authorized Sony dealer, in this matter. A Sony dealer would know better than you if Sony had raised their prices due to tariffs.

Your disdain for pretty much every company in existence is well established by your litany of anti-everything posts. You need to stop being so bitter; it's not good for you.

I like my 85" Sony Bravia 9 TV and I am not ashamed to say so. I also like my LG TV and the Hisense TV that I bought as a gift for someone else. It's not all that unusual for people to buy things that they like and to tell others about it. It does make me wonder if you actually like anything; no one would know it from reading your comments.
