Is it just me, or are 4K releases getting insanely expensive lately?”
I love collecting physical media steelbook, limited editions, the whole deal. But wow… I just saw karate kid legend 4K steelbook going for €70, and even the standard 4K edition was €47. I get that we’re paying for quality, limited print runs, and collector packaging, but at some point it just feels too much, even for those of us who are passionate collectors. Like, I’m not trying to buy a car just a movie I love. Don’t get me wrong, I still prefer owning physical media (streaming doesn’t compare), but lately it feels like being a collector is turning into a luxury hobby. And often you’re just getting a fancy case and maybe a few postcards for the price bump. |
