I'm reading through the booklet and, as interesting as it is, it is let down, once again, by the lack of proof reading.

I've never seen that error made before. My personal pet peeve is when people abbreviate "Should have" with "should of" instead of "should've".

Agreed.

The issue lies with the dying art of proof reading though. Sadly, mistakes like this are common throughout the media these days and this isn't the first that I have seen in a booklet from 88 or Eureka.

Finally got around to seeing this transfer. It really feels like a lot of color is missing compared to the DVD back in the day, but the general quality makes up for it a bit. The booklet unfortunately is as error-ridden as always, beginning with the TOC ("Interview with director Patricia Ha"...).

This was a blind buy for me. Caught me by surprise. I had only seen Yuen Biaos more comedic martial arts films. Ended up loving the movie. Also highly pleased that there was no j-card taped on the box itself and the information is actually printed on. Would like to see similar style boxes in the future!

The book is pretty confusing.

On page 6 it mentions the interviews underneath the essay title, but the interviews don't actually start until page 22.

Pages 6 - 21 is the 'On the Run and Hong Kong Noir' essay; then the two interviews are in order (pages 22 - 69).

Yeah I'd rather they left out the fluff like lobby cards and posters and got their booklet QC up to snuff because there are serious issues with every. Single. One.

Finished watching this movie for the first time, its a stylish chase action (guns, not martial arts) movie yet Biao kind of felt like a backseat character although he wasn't doing his usual traits - much like Jackie Chan in Crime Story

I liked it but don't think I'll be rewatching unless its for the cinematography which I loved as a hobby photographer

I finally got to watch this, just whittling down still all these HK stuff I've gotten the past year.

I'm going to have to watch this again. It's very HK for sure. It's got a grit to it that we don't here in the US for sure in the mainstream. It's also a very beautiful looking movie using the landscape of HK.

My only minor criticism is that the film, much like Crime Story, had Biao do a stunt that more mirrored his other films. I don't think this film needed that.

I've never seen Pat Ha aside from Winners and Sinners. But...she was rather impressive in this. Loved her look. Her hair and how she reflected emotions so well in her eyes especially for that character type.

I don't think I was ready for this film. I wasn't sure WHAT it really entailed just that it wasn't like Biao's regular fare. And it isn't for sure. I'll have to watch it again but I really enjoyed it. I was taken off guard by this thing.

Pat Ha was one of the best actresses in HK in the 80s.

Anyone who's only seen her in Winners & Sinners will get a real surprise when they check out her other roles.

Pat Ha is really what truly elevates this film, the whole character is like a tasteful Le Samourai homage that stands out in contrast against the sexually charged and exploitative girls with guns stuff (not judging, I like that too) that HK was doing at the same time.

I also agree that the stunt feels oddly out of place.

I've been doing a 45-film Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, and Yuen Biao movie marathon, and I just watched On the Run for the first time. I knew going in that Biao’s martial arts wouldn’t be front and center, so I wasn’t expecting much in that department—but holy crap, what a fantastic neo-noir film!

I was genuinely surprised by how incredible the music, ambiance, and cinematography were. It totally pulled me in. I loved everything except the very ending. What was up with that tacked-on text spelling everything out instead of showing it? Maybe it was added later to make sure the audience understood that the main characters wouldn’t just get away with murder?

Still, that aside, I thought it was surprisingly good—I'd even put it on par with Righting Wrongs. Both have pretty downbeat endings, haha.

Hopefully this gets the 4k limited edition upgrade like the Jackie Chan are currently getting! I'm surprised nobody bothered to release this in North America.

Wondering if Vinegar Syndrome could be sitting on the rights and it might be released as a VSA title…

88 Films list it at 104mins on their site. Even though I have the LE which says 88mins on the back and that’s how long the film on the disc is too

Maybe the Germans copied that? Or the source of 88’s misinformation
