Wow, Universal are all but back from the dead when it comes to catalogue titles. Glad they’re releasing stuff themselves again instead of farming it all off to Kino. And what a great bunch of titles too!

Excellent news! The blu is one of the worst transfer from the '05 era when Universal loved cranking the sharpening up to 11.
I wonder if this means Universal is going to put out Daylight and Dante's Peak themselves.

Not surprised we're getting this. Not just because of the anniversary, but also because those Apatow movies all seem to be getting 4K digital upgrades lately including Knocked Up, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and This Is 40.

They've been 4K digital for quite a while now (along with Trainwreck and Get Him to the Greek) - they were Fandango exclusives pre-Vudu merger. No HDR however. 40 Year Old Virgin was one of the few that wasn't 4K at all though.

Funny movie but the movies you mentioned are ones I won't be upgrading to 4k. Nothing wrong with any of them but drawing the line on which films I will upgrade to 4k. Very happy we're getting all genres coming to 4k

I'll probably upgrade the discs if/when we get the UHD release. Upgrading the digital copies is a pain because they make you pay for both the theatrical and unrated cuts.

Finally! I hope they get rid of that hideous oversharpened look from the ancient HD-DVD master.

You know, when you, like, you grab a woman's breast and it's... and you feel it and... it feels like a bag of sand when you're touching it.

Day One, the current Blu-ray is ugly AF.

I really hope not. Most of Apatow’s unrated cuts are pretty pointless— I think the Unrated and Unprotected (har har) cut of Knocked Up is a borderline marketing scam.
But this one is an exception. I think the theatrical cut is still a well edited and paced version, but I really love a lot of the added scenes in the unrated cut and hope we get both. It’d be a shame to have to keep the crusty old Bluray for it.

That's only a Kino/Scream Factory thing. Coming direct from Universal, we should be getting both cuts.

Anyways, delighted we'll finally be getting this. The ancient Blu (seventeen years old...! ) looked horrendous, even by early-Universal Blu standards.

Loved this one in the theater. From what I recall it was still before nerd culture was really mainstream. So much has changed since then. Around the time of this movie, Facebook was still just a niche site for college students and you had to have an edu email address to join. YouTube was in its very infancy and with 240p video quality and uploads could not be longer than ten minutes. Social media was still primitive and Myspace was at its peak. People went online using their computer, not their cell phone. Ring tones playing music and text messaging were the big craze with phones. It was a different time.

You could also have a long, rambling discussion about "Do you know how I know you're gay...?" without it being tagged a hate crime.

Paramount says "hello" with Team America and World War Z (Paramount has their own 4K, not just Shout for that one).
