These days it doesn't take much, and some days I seem to be more vulnerable than others, I don't know why.

I cry every time I watch the factory farewell scene in Schindler's List, for example, even though I have a huge problem with the scene being there in the first place, it's such a Spielbergian indulgence in a film that doesn't need it, but it really does work.

Before I was a habitual blubberer, one that stands out in my memory is the funeral finale of Douglas Sirk's Imitation of Life, which really got to me.

And as a teenager I remember crying in the cinema to the 'Oh Captain my Captain' finale of Dead Poets Society, which I somehow doubt would get me now, although who knows.
