Konami is charging 69.99 for Silent Hill F. A good reason to wait for a price drop IMO.

As for the movies, my only issues with Silent Hill were the pointless commentary ("ashes", "there was a fire here", etc), Alessa spelling everything out just before the climax, and there being very little payoff for the Sean Bean scenes (which the director admitted he was forced to shoot and always wanted to cut). Otherwise, it was a solid flick that was all about mood and atmosphere, rather than straight up scares.
Silent Hill: Revelation was mostly a mess with a few good moments sprinkled throughout. Per Wikipedia, director M.J. Bassett "spoke about her feelings towards the film. She said it felt more like a collaboration and did not have complete control, but since she wrote and directed it, she admits many aspects of its failings are also hers. She felt like she had to satisfy either the gamers or the audience; it was impossible to do both. Shooting in 3D was a pain, and she felt obligated to claim it was a great movie for the press, but in the back of her mind, she did not wholeheartedly agree. She wished she had stood up for her vision of the movie and for the fans. She regretted trying to tie the game and film canons together, as it created contradictions and retcons. She apologized to everyone who did not like the movie." In all fairness to Bassett, you can sense the film that might have been lurking in there somewhere, but the end result was still disappointing.
I am looking forward to Return to Silent Hill, with Christophe Gans back at the helm. I just wish that Roger Avary had also written it.

Thanks. That's cool she revealed so much about how she felt about the situation with Silent Hill Revelation. It was a clunky movie at times, and watching it again, the lead actress really struggled with her acting in that role I felt. Her delivery and emotions could've been more convincingly portrayed IMO, which could help sell the film's story better.
I often wondered why these film studios don't just adapt the game's story and script directly? I guess it has to do with rights. But when studios end up making Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo's Super Mario Bros. the live-action movie almost nothing like the video game it was based on, we end up with something way off the mark.
Thankfully the Silent Hill films are at least capturing the atmosphere, visuals and monster designs with some of the story intact.
I think this new film should depart from any connection to the prior films and characters/actors in them. A new slate and story I hope.
This game looks like it's going to be tough fighting these monsters, which is a big key to the horror survival aspect. Being overpowered and barely surviving.
