I wasn’t sure where to discuss this so I’ll just put it here.
Has anyone else noticed how warm discs can get in the PS5’s drive after extended gameplay? This cant be great for longevity. |

I have not. However, I probably don't usually the the disc out right after playing. it usually comes out when I have the next disc base game to put in, which is usually on a new day. I'm not sure how much that affects longevity. The pits and bumps will definitely elongate and shrink with the temperature but if it's within a tolerance it might have negligible effect. |

I haven't personally noticed that either. But like email said above, I'm not usually taking a disc out right away unless its a movie (which I haven't noticed being warm). Is your whole PS5 running hot? What kind've space is your PS5 living in?

I keep it clean with an electric duster and a break down and clean every 6 months or so. Maybe I can stress test it to see if the fan is going out or something. Any demo recommendations? I usually play older or arcade style games; nothing that would task the system really. I have this urge to get technical and break out a temperature sensor now haha! |

![]() Edit: I played about 2 hours of Watch Dogs 2 and immediately took the disc out. It was a little warm, but no where near hot or anything worrying. Just for comparison though, my console sits out on top of my entertainment center with nothing super close to the vents. I also blast the AC in my apartment constantly, so that probably also helps. In the end you just accept that nothing lasts forever or you go crazy from such thoughts. With so many games I'm unlikely to go back to any game in 20-30 years. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the discs outlive me because I'm already 40. Maybe that's why I started aiming for platinum more. So that I would never go back to them again and consider them completely finished. Yesterday, Alan Wake 2's disc got noticeably hot after 2 hours of play. I've never paid attention to this and would never worry about something like this.
