Have read on the web this week that Casualty's Christmas special (briefly previewed at the end of the last series' season finale ("Storm Damage: Freedom") back in early September), will be shown on BBC One on Saturday 28th December.
Casualty's total episode count for one produced series/season was reduced from (I think) forty-two episodes to thirty-six episodes, split into three 12 episode storyline series/seasons. Have checked EpGuides and the new series/season begins with "Public Property: Off Duty" (the Christmas special) on the aforementioned date (in the first paragraph of this post). Have missed Casualty (for me it's a weekend staple). |

Last Saturday night's new Christmas special (it was Casualty's first Christmas special in ten years (source: EpGuides and the BBC Casualty Facebook page). The storylines all had a shared theme: blood. About blood couriers, donations, supplies and transfusions. Very good episode which included
[Show spoiler] There will be 11 episodes in the new series/season starting this coming Saturday night (that is because I assume the Christmas special was filmed with the first third of the thirty-six episode produced series/season). |

A catch-up post. Since the Christmas special the first two thirds of a new produced season of thirty-six episodes has comprised of boxsets "Public Property" and "Internal Affairs" (the latter ended on BBC One last Saturday night). A new boxset/season begins on BBC One this coming Saturday night called "Supply & Demand".
Now..there has been a rumour and later confirmation that something is going on that requires a university degree to understand. I've heard a term "competitive tender" being said online regarding the BBC and the future of Casualty. |
