The audio on the Blu ray is pitiful, it just sounds weak, those tracking error tape dropouts during that one scene are wild, I mean I hear better audio on fansubs. There is a Japanese and US LD, surely one of those has a solid digital mix or analog mix to be ripped, if they can rip a damn VHS tape they can rig up an LD, I know it isn't as simple as doing a tape but it's not like Shout started their company yesterday. I feel like they won't mess this up twice, since Hackers got the proper 5.1 on the UHD which Shout used to claim wasn't available.

This makes no sense that you keep posting that the Laserdisc audio is "terrible" or "worse" than the VHS. Yes, the post clearly references the existence of a poor quality Japanese Laserdisc that was also compared, but is irrelevant due to the existence of the excellent US Laserdisc. So no need to keep perpetuating that the Laserdisc audio is "terrible." Shout could have done better. I don't have historical pricing on the US Laserdisc but I am sure Shout could have paid the ~$100 or less for a copy. |

A home video company can certainly afford $100 or less as I said. Go buy a copy on ebay. There are always copies available. I have only replied to let others reading know that you were providing incorrect information, now that I have done that I won't be replying anymore. Feel free to get the "last word" in. Best wishes. |

But obtaining a good quality LD should not have been a problem, regardless of it's rarity. When Shout put out House III (The Horror Show), they claimed there was no elements available for the uncut version at a point when I knew full well there was. Arrow subsequently put it out uncut, proving that they were always there. Shout could have located a laserdisc through the fanbase. They would have easily have been able to find one that way, and someone willing to let them use it to restore the original audio before returning it to them. |
