Shoot. I envy everyone on it now. I am the kind of man that wanted ATVs for 15 years, but no garage space for them. I saw them ripping up the trails in Danbury, Wisconsin or Dresser Wisconsin.. I have to wait until my birthday to play, because my elderly parents helped pay for Switch 2. It's only that I got it before the shortage. Secondly, Super Mario platformer screenshots aren't leaked. I even played Mario World Return to Dinosaur Island on Super Nintendo and Super Mario 64 Star Road on N64.

I called around today and it looks like two Targets in my area still have the console on hand! I kind of wanted to get it from Gamestop so I could trade in my OLED and recoup some of the cost, but I'm trying to decide if I want it bad enough to just go grab it from Target.

I just bought one at my local grocery store. More stores 'round here are running out, but it's readily available, I guess.
Now, to save up for that physical Mario Kart World. Only $100 ![]() ![]() |

The console is definitely smashing expectations in sales. Especially so given the thing did everything in opposition to conventional wisdom. Launched in summer, as dar as it gets from the holiday season, console price well above expectations, jacked up prices on nearly every accessory after the tariffs. Wonder if these sales numbers hold up over time. Seems like the vast majority of consoles moved thus far are adults with a lot of disposable income, like myself. Whether or not parents will fork over $450+ for a console, on top of $70-80 games, we likely won't know till the holiday season.

Japan software and hardware sales for 6/2/25-6/8/25, the week the Switch 2 launched. Holy Switch 2 domination.
![]() Amusingly, the Switch 2 sold more units in the first week than the Xbox Series X/S has all-time in Japan. https://mynintendonews.com/2025/06/1...rt-world-no-1/ Quote:

FYI - the GameCube controller is currently in stock on Nintendo of America's website.

That was my thinking back when it was formally announced, with price of games and console. Something like 90-110 million consoles sold for Switch 2 during it's lifespan. Certainly a big success, but far short of the original Switch, with it's historically great sales numbers.

If Rockstar can pull off the impossible and optimize a version of GTA 6 for Switch 2, that could move quite a few consoles for sure.
Or perhaps Nintendo will come up with a new entry in a franchise that blows people away, or a new IP entirely. Either way, this initial success bodes well for this console cycle. We should see a lot of love for the Switch 2 over the years. |

NIS is all aboard the key cart BS train. RPG's are my favorite genre and I bought a lot of NIS games on the Switch. Shame it seems even the major RPG companies like Square and NIS are 100% key carts. Going to greatly reduce my Switch 2 physical collection compared to Switch 1.

I have a Steam Deck, a pretty damn good custom PC. So I'll really only be purchasing Exclusives for the Switch 2. If I'm essentially buying a digital copy (game key), I'm doing it on Steam. I forsee my library being tiny. I've only played it for about 30 minutes since launch (Mario Kart) because I'm in the endgame of Clair Obscur, but I got nothing on the horizon, so hopefully they have some new stuff coming soon.
