Not only your VHS player but also the tapes themselves of course. I speak from experience.....my first video recorder, a Philips, used to chew up tapes for fun. Thankfully my later Sony machines were brilliant.

Those are really good drawings. Reminds me a little of Pete's Dragon from when I was a kid.

As I said yesterday, I leave tomorrow for St. Louis for another 5+ hour long drug trial infusion. It will be my 43rd appointment so far this year.

Yesterday afternoon I had another 37, yes 37, appointments added to my schedule. I start cardiac rehab on Friday and then three times a week until at least Sept. and this is in addition to what I already had scheduled.

Being sick is just too much work and the pay isn't worth a damn.

AppleTV has some good Series I've been watching Platonic with Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne. Childhood best friends that reconnect as adults. Stick with Owen Wilson as a washed up Pro Golfer that finds a Young Prodigy with remarkable golfing talents!

My infusions are fairly routine, just tediously time consuming and very tiring.

When they add a bunch of tests it can make for a 7+ hour day easily. July will be my one year anniversary in my drug trial and they have two days of tests planned for me and some of these tests are quite painful.

I’m going through a spell of buying loads of DTV movies, especially ones starring Scott Adkins. Bought the Universal Soldier sequels (last two), Avengement and his latest, Prisoner Of War. Also picked up Rise Of The foot-soldiers boxset (not my usual type of purchase).

Not related, but really like the look of Inside starring Guy Pearce, love a good prison film. Snapped that one up too (pre order)

I did a little shopping myself; it has been awhile since I did so to this extent:

I also have 3 preorders in place and four other titles that should ship soon. Oh, just an FYI that WWII In Hi Def set stacks all four blu-rays onto a single hub.

For Apple TV4K owners, have you saw where Apple will supposedly add bitstreaming audio to several devices including the ATV4K? Word is this is for lossy audio only, no lossless.

Metallica's "Load" album is now in Dolby Atmos on Apple Music. That was the first Metallica album I bought almost 30 years ago!

Just about finishing my new Mac Mini set-up. It's tedious because they dropped support for my old apple keyboard. I had to buy a wireless one but went with McAlly for $49.99. Apple wanted $200 for a touch ID one, so no thank you. Finished migrating my old system, too.

Lossless is a tricky subject for Apple. The Lossless audio ATMOS files they have don't compare at all to ATMOS music releases on Disc.

I am very impressed they updated Apple Music to lossless particularly when most Apple devices did not support it!

The bit streaming they will allow from third party apps may allow them to pass lossless audio from files that have it. That's not coming as a release until the fall though. I'm interested in just what happens with regards to that.

I would have been more interested if they kept the iPod Touch around and upgraded the innards a bit with a quality built in DAC/amp like my FiiO X1 and X3 both have. Biggest issue I have with the rise of streaming is people use phones and phones, on their own, sound terrible compared to pairing with an external DAC/amp.

People that are easily satisfied with video quality are often more so with audio.

It always amazes me that many people will spend big bucks on a nice TV only to listen through its crappy built-in speakers or maybe a cheap soundbar.

Big picture with tiny tinny sound; I will never get why so many people settle for that.

I truly feel that there is a good percentage of people who settle because they simply have not experienced what a good home theater system is. The retail landscape has significantly changed in that there are not enough opportunities for someone to walk into a store and sit down to enjoy a demo or 10 minutes of a movie on a system. Add to that the fact that they probably do not have friends or neighbors with one to experience, so they go to Costco and buy a soundbar because it had a sticker claiming “Deep bass.”

A soundbar is still an improvement over tv speakers in most cases and can be a good way to overcome room limitations, but a concern of mine is the future of home theater. As previously debated a week ago, when our generation hands the baton over to the next, will there still be enough interest to support not only physical media, but the equipment that makes it all come to life.

If you'll permit me to offer a similar comparison, many many moons ago I worked in photographic retailing for a little over 4 years. We used to sell everything from budget cameras & lenses to high-end camera equipment costing thousands. I was always amazed how some customers would buy a top end 35mm SLR costing many hundreds of pounds, and then stick on a really cheap lens in front of it!
