Digital Foundry just did a huge deep dive interview Q&A with both CDPR and Epic. I said earlier in response to the concern that Unreal Engine 5 has its problems that they would be working much more closely with Epic on those issues to be overcome and the Summer Games Fest presentation they made together hinted at it but this deeper dive Q&A by DF also confirms it was started just before they made the formal decision to announce they've decided to use UE5 once they had spoken to Epic about all their gameplay needs.
It also reiterated that the demo shown off was on a base PS5. Obviously it's a tech presentation so there's probably 100% no chance the retail product end up that high fidelity but i do think it's possible they could get 85-90% there with some optimisations and things. The movement of the cape on Ciri looked fantastic tbh. I thought details on characters were more pared back for NPCs but not massively and then probably increased during the cutscenes. The NPCs having much richer scripted moments if they can add enough variety in those areas will be really good for replay ability in the game world. This outside of GTA6 has just to the next most anticipated game for me to play but i will wait a while because i'm almost certain there's DLC plans and patches to address the more than likely performance areas that need a bit of work. |
