Default The Amateur (1981) with John Savage

I have a vague recollection of seeing this on HBO or Showtime in the early 80s during my college years but I can't remember anything about it. I never bought the DVD and I have never seen it since. A solid cast: John Savage, Christopher Plummer, Ed Lauter. Directed by Charles Jarrot, the director of Anne of a Thousand Days and Mary, Queen of Scots. But he also directed The Other Side of Midnight.

The reason I would buy this on blu ray is for one, admittedly, odd reason: Marthe Keller. Between 1976 and 1981 she appeared in six English language films
[Show spoiler] (Marathon Man, Black Sunday, Bobby Deerfield, Fedora, The Formula, The Amateur)
. I own the first four on blu ray and I own The Formula, which is still only available on dvd. I want to own The Amateur on blu ray to complete the six pack of English language films she did during this timeframe. Hopefully one day WAC will release a blu ray of The Formula.

After The Amateur, Marthe Keller did not headline or costar in an English language theatrical film for the next 20 years. By that time she was in her mid 50s. Except for a few English language tv movies or miniseries, she appeared only in foreign language films through the end of the 1990s.

Anchor Bay released this on dvd 20 years ago. Exec produced by Kassar and Vajna. Theatrical release by Fox. Is this stuck in Fox/Disney purgatory?

Just thought to mention, larrys, if you feel you could use a free VHS release of THE AMATEUR (1982) in good condition I've a spare. I have 3 copies of "The Amateur" on tape and could send you one if you're interested.

I like "The Amateur"; seen it multiple times over the years and picked up three tapes of the film over time. If you could use a "physical media" copy I've a 1984 CBS/Fox Video 'grey box' release with a clean tape that would be ready to play. (No mould; no dust!).

I reckon THE AMATEUR is mostly likely stuck in 'Modern Disney Purgatory'.
