To be fair, I think Amazon stopped trying with this show. I only noticed that season three was available. There was no fanfare or promotion done. I can understand that many people wouldn't even know it had come back.
What did I think as a non-book reader? Season three was really good the beast men returned, and it seemed more cohesive regarding the various characters. To be honest, the long gap between seasons did mean i'd forgotten some things but not as bad as season two.
Much better than either season one or the confusing season two, I was looking forward to season four as things had been set up but that'll never happen now.
Does anyone know what sort of budget the show had?

Yes, Amazon did stop promoting the show, with season 3, so I think it's cancellation was a foregone conclusion, before the season was released. Even within my Amazon devices and PV apps, I had difficulty simply getting to the season 3 episodes, whereas they would have been front and center before.

This is good news.
It's unfortunate it even got made at all.
I'm so tired of shows being overtaken by people that don't know - or care - about what fans like about a specific IP, and inject it with their own "flavor" in ways that are incongruent with the intent of the material itself.
Then, the fans of the original IP don't have any interest in watching it because it's been twisted into something they are not interested in.

The fans that could establish the viewership are told, "If you don't like it, don't watch it."
So, most stop watching it.

Then, the blame is on the VIEWERS for the low ratings.

Well... now we have another show that's finished its contractual obligation to be completed with the least amount of financial divestiture possible - even though it was a failure from season 1 - and ultimately, they will say it's the fans of Robert Jordan's work that are to blame.
When in reality, it's because they used Jordan's name to make a piece of crap, and blame the fans for not liking it.

Good riddance. Farewell, stinking turd of a show.

I read them and I watched them, I would have continued watching (s3 was pretty good). Amazon wasnt committed to finishing the story tho.

Hm, I watched the first 2 seasons and they were OK, even though I had trouble keeping all the groups and characters with the weird names apart, and the actor they chose to play the "dragon" would be a better fit for a boy band. I'll probably still watch S3 since it's supposed to be the best and offer at least some degree of closure.

I have been perpetually re-reading them since 2014 (10 re-reads now).

However, I have a 60 mile commute, so I have to listen to something.

But I absolutely LOVE the books. Jordan is hilarious with his prose at times.

Cha-Faile!

Personally I've cancelled the show in my home after the first episode. I'm surprised they actually made three seasons of this nonsense.

I am a book reader and I have found the show a very good adaptation within the constraints of the format.
Apparently this season had better ratings and reception than the other two, it was cancelled purely because Amazon ****ed up somewhere else and of the two big live action high fantasy series they had was the one that didn't have "the brand" so they'd rather prop up Tolkien's corpse rather than have a series that's actually much better suited to the type of show they evidently want.
It's no different from when Netflix cancelled multiple animated projects, just a testament to how screwed up the streaming era can be.

It's a shame that HBO couldn't have tried this instead of Amazon. I feel that it would have had a much bigger grab over there giving it much more popularity.

But screwed up cancellations do go back before streaming.

Remember when Fox canceled Futurama because of the awful Sunday 7:00 PM time slot that their NFL football games kept running over?

No wonder nobody was watching it.

Family Guy, cancelled after 3 seasons. Huge DVD sales so they brought it back. It's now been on the air for a quarter of a century.

HBO would have probably sexed it up too much, by and large Amazon kept it old school PG-13 (some nudity but not excessive) which is more in line with the general tone of the books (which actually had more nudity now that I think about it, see the way they raise the Amyrlin in the show vs the books).

I first read the books in 2014. They blow the series away!

It is now my favorite series, surpassing Tolkien's works.

I have now re-read this series 10 times since. It's that good. Highly recommended, obviously.
