I've never been a great fan of hot weather either mate. Low 20's is fine, but once it starts to edge towards 30C, I find it becomes quite unpleasant. I guess everyone's different - some people love it, but not you or me.

Funny you should mention air conditioning, I was actually looking at some portable air conditioners the other day and I think I'll need to get one too as I suspect these heatwaves are going to become more and more frequent in the coming years.

With Spain it's better to go in the spring if you can, especially places like Barcelona or further south. The weather is fairly changeable in the north, rather like the UK in some ways. I had family living in the north-west of Spain and the summers here varied considerably when I used to pop over and visit.

Yep, it makes me miserable. I love the late Autumn and winter months. I am just a happier person!

Due to an anomaly in my transfer, I actually had to exit the airport in Dublin and walk for a bit outside to go between terminals... and go through security again... my kids commented at the overcast weather and sub 20 degree weather with some measure of relief.... lol...

Finding out that my credit card covers 4 passes to the T1 lounge has taken the sting out of the 4 hour layover.... looking at my family after hitting the all you can eat buffet has me questioning our life choices before getting on a 7.5 hour flight home...

Also my favorite time of year. I can't stand Summer, especially living in Georgia in the U.S. From now through the end of August we will hit 32 C and above pretty much every day. Life without Air Conditioning here would be miserable.

I have always hated cold weather and especially now with my heart problems. Circulation to my extremities, hands and feet, is poor and during cold weather I can barely feel my feet, which greatly increases my risk of falling.

Yeah, that’s not good. Don’t get me wrong, I know I’m in the minority, but that’s me!

I added a couple of curiosities to my collection:

^This is the bonus disc that was offered separately for those of us that bought the 6 volumes of The Little Rascals individually as opposed to the complete box set that included this bonus disc.

The first volume of the silent shorts; hopefully more volumes will follow.

Disappointing news from my part of the world, the major backers of a new state of the art film and tv studio to be built ten minutes from my home, have pulled out. This means they now need new backers or the whole thing will fail.
Hugely disappointing, but thought it was too good to be true.
Would have been a huge boost for my city and local area.

My LW 4KBD has now been stuck in the UK for over a week and Zaavi just keeps telling me to wait longer.

Should I dispute the charge after so long and just refuse delivery if I get it?

I was lucky enough to snag tickets to the Paris catacombs while I was there..

[Show spoiler]

The whole time I was in there, I kept thinking about how a few years back they discovered that a group of cinephiles had setup a fully functioning movie theatre and bar down there and had been hosting full features until they were discovered... when the police went back, the whole setup had been dismantled and all that was found was a note warning the authorities not to try and find them....

I think I've found inspiration for the last HT I'll build in the "retirement" home

Are we required to use Celsius on this site now or something? Did I miss the memo again?

(It's 95 in real degrees in Houston right now. Not sure how people existed in this city before AC.)

I am no fan of Zaavi. I ordered from them once and only once and seldom have I experienced such terrible customer service.

If you open a dispute, your payment method may tell you to wait longer, especially as this is an international order. You can try, anyway, but your payment method may make you wait a full 30 days before they investigate your dispute.

I know Steedeel and several others on here are in the UK so I converted it to something they would understand. For us Americans basically 90F and above through August.

Just to be clear, that wasn't a swipe at you. Just being goofy. I was born and lived my early life in Atlanta. Basically the same as Houston temp wise.

On page 6 of the May/June 2025 Widescreen Review magazine it talks about how physical media like 4K Blu-ray and 2K Blu-ray have better sound quality when compared to streaming which still only uses lossy audio codecs. And while the low bit rate 4K streaming quality has improved over the years, 4K Blu-ray has a better picture quality and would require around 150Mbps to stream because of the constant 50Mbps to 100Mbps HEVC bit rate and sometimes over 130Mbps HEVC video bit rate for some movies. But since streaming video and audio quality is good enough it is winning the format war against physical optical disc media. It's the videophiles and audiophiles that are interested in the Blu-ray format.

Against my better judgement I ordered the Seinfeld 4ks.

I have half a mind to downscale them. I probably won't. But 2TB is a lot of space....

Me too. I feel like I run hotter than most people. Something like 40F/4C to 75F/24C is what I prefer.
