I own the 30th anniversary soundtrack signed by the artist from that release. It's so bland, but I was buying everything living dead back then, so I got it. I've never seen someone selling it or listing it, so I hope it sells someday.

I also have the super deluxe DVD of it, keeping it just to keep it at this point. Haven't watched that version since it came out. Might be a fun drunken rewatch soon, kinda forget it even exists.

I rewatched it a few years ago thinking "maybe I was being too harsh on it" and the first new scene I was like "nope, this is awful."

It's a fantastic movie imo, love it, is just as good as the OG but In a different way imo. But that's my opinion, terrific effects, makeup, dread induced feeling, music and acting. It's the best Resident Evil movie we've ever gotten.

Children Of The Living Dead I think it was.
No I think Children came out 2001, but yes I believe a producers daughter directed Children, might be wrong. Truly awful film, I can see Vinegar Syndrome releasing a deluxe 4k soon.

Yeah, and it was terrible.

Russo also maintained that all the additions were things they wanted to do in 1968, but I don't know how true that statement actually is.

Just popped in the Umbrella Blu ray. Is this supposed to be the best release until the 4k comes out?

Fixed

There's always been a debate over whether the sony 2018 blu or the old Umbrella blu is the more repugnant fare. They're both poor, but for totally different reasons. They're kinda on opposite ends of the gag spectrum, so you have to pick yer poison. I rough it out with the Umbrella myself, because I can't tolerate the sony disc, but the Aussie disc is not likely the most popular decision due to its ugly digital futzery. Still, you're easily better off with the Umbrella blu than the TT blu.

It's not going to matter in a few months.

I'm so conflicted on this film. It's not bad on its own. Tony Todd really goes all out. Butler is a nice addition. Towles hams it up a bit too much. It's entertaining, but he just ramps it up too much. Tony gives this film a notable advantage in the acting department.

The deciding difference to me though is that Savini is not quite able to recreate the atmosphere and claustrophobia of the original. Plus, the original just has that old time monster feel. What makes the 1968 film work would feel so hokey today. The library music, the more stoic performances of the male leads and so on.... But it just works with the minimal budget and the time period. It might be a few years out of the old monster movie era, but it still fits in spirit. I just didn't appreciate that when I first saw the original article 10 years old.

But, I will upgrade this when it hits on 4k. It does enough of the basics and a few improvements in acting to make it worthwhile every now and then.

I like this film more than the OG. The latter is still the daddy of all zombie movies and I likes it a lot, but the remake just does more for me. Patty Tallman 4lyfe

I will say that I probably got my most enjoyment based on this latest viewing just now. Not a ton more than before, but in the positive direction just the same. The core issues I have with the film (relative to the original) are still there. I'm still bothered by things. I think the ending in the original has more impact despite Tony Todd givingbthe better performance throughout the movie.

Moreover,
[Show spoiler] Barbara basically commits murder. Yeah, Cooper was an *******, but he wasn't really wrong with most of what he did. Hitting his wife was bad, but barb knew nothing about that anyway.

This isn't a great movie by any means, but it's solid. I especially appreciate the way Barbara evolves. I'll take the 1990 version over the 1968 version every time.

Has anyone shared this in the thread?

May give a good idea of what extra is in it. https://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=915

This assumes the extra footage has only been recovered via a surviving workprint of course. If it's another source, might be a little different.
