Just finished this. I really wasn't expecting to encounter two all-time favorite games this early in 2025, but this and Blue Prince have genuinely blown me away.

I was just attempting to beat Serpenphare at Level 70 and below for the 2nd time, but I think Roulette finally kicked in, and I accidentally one-shotted it, lol.

[Show spoiler]I did the Chromatic Danseuse lumina farm, so everybody got Cheater on, and Maelle was first-hit-buffed to the teeth. I got Sciel to go first, I used Fortune’s Fury to further buff Maelle, Sciel’s 2nd turn used Intervention on Maelle, and Maelle’s Stendhal did it.

Finally got a copy today Everytime I tried to get a copy somewhere, it'd sell out in seconds or the retailer would contact me later to tell me it was delayed. Speaking of which, I just looked at BestBuy where I bought it and they are out of stock again. Crazy how well this game has been doing. I probably got quite a ways to go on Death Stranding 2 though first.

My copy arrived today and I've been playing a bit of it. It's lovely, but also undeniably a AA game. But this would have been seen as AAA a generation or two ago. And you can't deny the love that clearly went into making it.

Thus far my only nitpicks are the traversal mechanics feel a tad outdated, the canned animations for the non-mocapped dialogue exchanges, the default sound leveling has a habit of drowning out some of the dialogue, and the game could use a 4K video update for the cinematics (similar to what NetherRealm did for Mortal Kombat 1) given how compressed and fuzzy they are (way more than I expected.

Okay, I am having really nasty audio sync issues during the cutscene when he Expedition first makes landfall. I already installed the patch before playing the game, which I have read should have resolved that issue.

I think about this for every game that has lower quality video files for its cutscenes. I always refer back to Shadow of War: let us download higher quality versions of the files from the store for those who choose to if they don’t fit on the disc. Which for this one though they could have easily fit much higher quality files on the disc.

Quantum Break had higher quality assets you could download for the FMV cutscenes too iirc.

I think this'll be the next non-VR game I play, I grabbed the deluxe one in the recent sale. Am really excited to dive in having only been mildly spoiled (well a fairly huge thing that's a basic story thing that would've been excellent to discover normally, but hey, that's how the Internet goes).
