Yes, it was an awesome cast in this film... loved Costner and Diane Lane as the Kent's.
Loved them together again years later in 'Let Him Go' too.

Pa Kent's death will alway bug me because there are 1000 ways to handle it.
Superman doing what he did at the end bugged me when it happened, despite him doing it in the past. Comic-accurate, but only that one time.

The rest of the film is a banger. 9/10. I was not a fan of the rest of the messy Snyderverse, but MoS kicked ass.

The film is what it was. There's not much to reassess considering it's not even that old or far removed from the culture that it came out of.

Pretty much this. Superman was better. MOS had some real good ideas and a world worth exploring. I just wish it was better executed narratively. Visually it's pretty great. Just Snyder isn't exactly the best guy to ask and answer the questions that his film attempted to. Much better than Sucker Punch was w/ it's attempt at being something empowering.

Despite my making fun, I do like the DCEU more than I dislike. I own them after all, but I don't think they have aged well for me as my tastes are a bit different than they were a decade ago. But MOS is still solid as hell. Also has one of the GOAT movie scores IMO.

I think MoS will continue as much of the Snyder DCEU entries remain a bit of a dark horse and divisive. Personally I said before the executives need to share a lot of the blame for the way that whole thing went but there's no denying Snyder ultimately chose the colour timings and so on. However I do certainly appreciate it as a much more realistic look at how the world truly would treat such a super powered being and the concern a parent would have even if some don't like the execution as it was done. It's nice to have it as a different foil.

Sorry about that. I was trying to be tongue and cheek. I made that post on a phone before the movie (Gunn's Superman) started, so that came off out of context.

Anyway, I just find it kinda funny looking back at over 10 years of controversy that started with Man of Steel.

I thought the fight of Superman vs Zod was awesome in this Man of Steel. I also really enjoyed the epic final fight in Superman '25. Both sets of villains per film give Superman a serious beating.

An older incarnation of an iconic character always deserves reassessing when a much newer one has made it's debut, because there's something new to compare to and contrast to.
