It's mentioned in this video that there is a possibility that Crocodile Dundee may be getting an uncut release in the states. (go to 25:40 minute mark).
Take it with a grain of salt for now of course.

I just seen the news that the upcoming UHD and Cinema Re-Release is going to be titled the Encore cut. Where they have cut down the American version by a further 2mins 30 seconds removing entirely the scene when he meets the transvestite in the bar and also the futher scene when he meets the masculine looking woman and thinks she is also trans too.

So now there will be 3 cuts of this movie.

What next, will there be a forth cut removing all of the mistreatment of crocodiles in it....

Any lover of this movie, or old classic movies as a whole should not give this "Encore release" your money as this will be the sign to the studios to cut to shreds other old classics too.

Neither of these will win any awards in the PQ/AQ categories though.

There is another two pack with a different cover but what look like the same DVDs from 2007. Would this be the longer Australian cut too? They are Fox discs and not Paramount.
The one with a blue cover says 78 minutes on the sleeve. Surely this is a typo?

Hopefully that means the 2nd film is selling well and no one is buying the encore cut.

Of course they’ll just say it’s because people don’t want the tat, instead of the real and far more obvious reason.

Saw both films in JB today and due to having good memories and some affection for the second film back when it first came out in theatres - and having only owned both films on DVD - I bought part II (and no, I have no intention of picking up The Encore Cut. Will just have to stick with my Australian Cut on DVD for the time being).
Quick impressions it looks very nice. However it is SDR only. I compared it to the included Blu ray and to be honest if someone put on either the 4K or the Blu ray while I was out of the room and then asked me to guess which was showing I don't think I'd be able to tell which was which. Detail levels and colour seem almost identical on both formats.
I'm curious to know now if the first film is also SDR only. Seems likely it could be - but I'll never buy it to find out.

Had a hunch they’d screw things up further. Paramount’s 4K digital versions of both films have HDR / Dolby Vision.

For anyone interested in seeing the differences between the Aussie and International Cuts, Movie Censorship.com have looked into it:

https://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=172550

While it is pretty obvious what is removed from the Encore Cut, I assume someone will eventually upload the differences on Movie Censorship.com.

In JB HiFi today. Take a look at the false advertising on the DVD (top right hand corner):

Here’s a pic of the Limited Edition. If it had the Aussie cut as well as the International Cut, I would buy it, even with the PC changes in the Encore Cut. Will wait for the standard UHD BD.

Got to admit it, the faux-crocodile skin is a nice touch (it is not just cosmetic, it does have a reptilian skin feel), but $80 to support a censored cut, no thank you.

$80 for a censored cut?!

Anybody supporting these releases are doing an enormous disservice to the rest of us.

So I posted about this in the 4K thread but worth repeating here: I own the Australian cut on DVD. I’d only ever seen that cut never owning a copy of the International Cut. I actually rewatched my DVD around the time the Encore Cut had its limited run at the movies, but I was honestly curious about the Encore Cut and given it’s reported run time surmised it was the International Cut but with the additional cuts made for PC reasons (although of course the filmmakers and Hogan say it’s not for PC reasons - yeah right). Anyway…I decided to rent the Encore Cut on Amazon Prime to see what the fuss was all about, and given I’d watched the Australian Cut recently I was able to pick out what was missing reasonably easily - at least in regards to the longer scenes that are missing. By looking at the Movie Censorship site that Rick linked to I can see some scenes not involving dialogue go on a fraction longer in the Australian Cut - that I didn’t pick up on. But the other missing stuff - I sure did notice the cuts. And I’ll be honest: forgetting for a moment about the cuts made for the Encore version, watching the rest of what makes up the International cut - I really didn't like how the film plays. The first third feels rushed. Whole dialogue scenes are removed or are relegated to voice-over against long shots of the 4WD driving through the bush. Scenes with Wally are removed. Of course in comparison nearly nothing of the New York stuff was cut - except a few trims of non dialogue scenes. It’s like the distributor at the time thought : “let’s not give them to much of the Australian stuff less they get disinterested - get Dundee to NY as quickly as possible for the fish out of water stuff”
It’s just not the same movie anymore as far as I’m concerned.
So for me no owning the Encore Cut and no owning the International cut either, and given that the likelihood of the full Australian cut seeing the light of day on 4K or Bluray appears very very slim, I guess I'm going to have to hold onto my DVD for the foreseeable future.

Managed to find a copy of the R4 Australian double pack on EBay from a UK seller. Going to give it a spin Friday night. Never seen the Australian cut before. Just had a skim through the disc and the PQ isn’t terrible. It’s a bit dark and compressed looking but definitely watchable for a nearly 20yr old DVD. Sound is though mono and pretty rough.
