My favorite scenes from memory:
Frank Drebin as the singer and Umpire at the baseball game.
Drebin as Phil Donahue host at the Academy Awards.
The opening and ending of part 2 at the formal dinner party.
The drinking water microphone is still on scene.
Drebin with his face at the microscope and his boss says "Use the other eye, Frank". Drebin looks up with his closed eye from the scope.

Plenty of funny scenes/gags/moments in the original series.

Not everything was funny, but when it was, it got me laughing probably the most of most comedy movies I've seen in my life.

Part 2 is good but for some reason, didn't get me laughing as much as 1 and 3.

Based on the short insight from the BBFC, it looks like the film will be PG-13:

https://www.bbfc.co.uk/release/the-n...pwwc0xmdi5mzqy

The film has been classified
[Show spoiler]15
in the UK,
[Show spoiler]but only for "strong sex references"
.

EDIT: In Ireland, the film has been classified
[Show spoiler]15A (as opposed to 12A or 16)
but intriguingly, IFCO mentions
[Show spoiler]"violent scenes with some injury detail" in addition to "Strong sexual content and innuendo"
:

https://ifco.ie/en/ifco/pages/D824AD9E002D065B

No idea why the MPAA rating hasn't been revealed yet.

Before Superman started, they showed a super hero themed Naked Gun trailer, which was humorous. Liam Neeson as Drebin was talking about the superhero movie you're about to just see, and linked some comedy to it with this new movie.

And Drebin's driving skills are funny too. He's got a heavy braking style, jamming on it last second, but only after he bumps into something to knock it down.

I do like that they're acknowledging the great comedy of Leslie Nielsen and the other funny characters in the series instead of just wiping the slate as if they didn't exist. So technically, Liam Neeson is Frank Drebin Jr., as we saw in the prior films when he was a kid.

Only thing missing is he doesn't have gray/white hair, like the son had in the prior film as Nielsen's Drebin Jr. son.

If you think the narketing will be better than the remake, you don't know Paramount. Paramount has a great track record of making sequels better than the originals, such as:

"The Godfather: Part II" (1974)
"Addams Family Values" (1993)
"Top Gun: Maverick" (2022)

Paramount has also made remakes that were better than the originals, including:

"The Ten Commandments" (1956)
"The Italian Job" (2003)

So you can prophesize doom and gloom all you want, but I think this film will turn out great.

I remember hearing rumors years ago about how some felt Liam Neeson would make a good Frank Drebin of Police Squad.

I'll try to rewatch Files of Police Squad on DVD again by time this movie arrives. I've already rewatched 1 and 3, and will watch part 2 soon again.

I like that they're trying to keep the humor similar to the original. Like when he says "Take a chair", and she begins taking it out of the room with her. I think they call that stupid humor, but it can be really funny IMO.

Like when Frank Drebin goes to the restroom at the dinner party, then slams the door open into the face of a First Lady, completely oblivious and adjusts his suit jacket and proceeds to walk in the other direction as she is caught from falling backwards by her agents as seen in Naked Gun 2's intro. It's all in the name of dumb comedy but it's really funny slapstick too.

Examples of a few films from years ago are no guarantee of quality. And the trailers so far make me want to vomit. I could be wrong, I'd be happy to be wrong, but this is one of those films that I wouldn't even go a mile from the cinema without seeing the reviews first.

it's funny to me that you brought TGII as an example considering Paramount was on the verge of firing Coppola during the production of The Godfather and considered Al Pacino a bad choice for the role

I listened to that featurette, but made sure to not watch the gags so I can be surprised for the movie.

I hope the featurettes on the blu ray are longer than 3 minutes each. That is always disappointing that I don't even feel like watching something that short as it's like watching a trailer almost. Give me 30 minutes of features in one play all option. I don't want to be clicking on 20 different mini featurettes to see anything of a substantial runtime, with how short many movie featurettes have gotten as of 2025 on disc media.

Seth MacFarlane of Family Guy, he's a singer in real life, and does songs by Sinatra and other crooner style singers of the 1950s and 60s like Tony Bennett.

I rewatched the original 3 films, and part 2 was funnier than the last time I watched it years ago. I guess the ending wasn't as funny as the other two (it's still funny with the stage antics for the dinner audience), so that could be part of why I though it wasn't as funny as the other 2, both with hilarious endings. 1, the baseball stadium skits were hilarious IMO, and 3, the Oscars were really funny.
