First horde I had on my first playthrough it felt impossible. Deacon really learned a lot about weapons and combat and bikes and that's why he's a speed tank by the end of the game. Makes sense.

I'm liking this a lot. Play it on hard 2, so it's always tense, always has me on edge even though it never feels super hard. Lovely balance I gotta say. The Bike and the way it controls, just awesome. Generally love the setting too. One thing that was super awkward:

[Show spoiler] Deacon and Sarah's reunion. Felt like that could have been played differently, since so much of the early stretch is about finding her.

I guess it makes sense but they could have written that moment a bit more powerfully since

See, that is why I don't like

As you said, she could have done or said something about the time missed with Deek, or she could have acted more like a human being once everyone left the room. In addition, remember that security guy Jim at the lab? Yes, he was no angel and annoying, but Sarah murdered him in cold blood! Deek looked stunned for a second when that happened. I just don't like her, man.

Yeah I sure still remember that moment, wasn't too long ago. Deek was like 'oh wow'. If 'oh wow' meant 'the fu*k?!'

I'm not sure it was in character for her at that moment, although that happened after a major gunfight so lab guy wasn't exactly inviting'em over for cookies.

I sort of took it as this whole situation has done a number on anyone still alive and healthy, we've all got blood on our hands in order to stay alive, etc....

But it contrasts a bit, sometimes heavily,

[Show spoiler]with Deek who in fact mercy killed at least one individual (the Taylor guy who's ear got cut off)

which I though was really moving.

I think she is not a good person to begin with, but that's just me, lol. It is true though, that after two years of trying to survive, everyone has got blood on their hands.

[Show spoiler]If my memory serves me right, I think Deek also mercy killed that poor girl who got tied up by the Rippers in the wild, while he was on a mission with f-ing Skizzo. If you count that as another mercy kill, Deek also took care of Leon at the very beginning of the game. Finally, Deek also put down a badly injured dog while looking for Boozer after chatting with O'Brien.

Anyway, the story is quite well written and there is a lot of potential in this series. It is a shame those in charge at Sony have no f-ing clue about building a successful and sustaining great IPs.

Believe me, even Survival II isn't that difficult. Still, I almost always play on Hard II. IMO, Survival II is more annoying than difficult since you no longer have fast travel and the little HUD map. Without the latter is alright, but there are nights when I am either short on time or slightly tired, I wouldn't want to spend 10 minutes driving from point A to point B.

I think the final mission is done right.

[Show spoiler]Neither Col Garret nor Skizzo are the fighter type or are superhuman. The story wouldn't make sense if you had to go on an extended fight level to beat them all of a sudden.

I guess I have a slight OCD in me, I always go for 100% each time I play, lol In most cases, there are many ways to take care of the same horde. I just try different tactics each time I play the game.

Still, it is a damn shame a sequel is unlikely.

It looks like Days Gone Remastered is confirmed and will become available in April. Per this article, it looks like there are mainly cosmetic things like the repackage challenge mode and not much actual new content to the story. I will still buy it, but why don't they just do some real creative work and release a sequel?
