How does one do that? I could check for you.

Found it. I'm on 1.0.2 right now. 5.7gb game data and 2.3gb update data.

I haven't played Atari in years, and this collection omitting some of my favorites makes me want to skip it altogether. The 2600 port of Pac-Man has the distinction of being perhaps the worst home port of an arcade game in existence, so I can't bring myself to play that ever again.

Skipped it due the lack of River Raid and Moon Patrol.

Atari Pac-Man is the first video game I ever played, it was years before I found out there were other versions and that I had been playing the worst

It would be great if some of those third-party releases could be added but I doubt it. Would love to see River Raid, perhaps MS will dust it off if the ABK acquisition gets approved. For Moon Patrol, at least the Arcade Archives version is available from Hamster but it doesn't help this collection.

Interesting that others say VR reignited their love of gaming, that’s exactly what happened to me after several years of hardly playing. Now I’m playing PS5, Switch and PC and keen as ever.

Plus, playing Var exclusively for roughly a generation (6 years) means I have loads of PS4 games to discover via the PS extra subscription! I only ever need to buy GTA6 and Astrobot, I can wait for everything else.

I’m also late to the game for the Switch but enjoying the likes of Mario Wonder and the Portal collection (I’m ashamed to say never played it)

As for this Atari collection, it’s a miss. Like others said, no Pac-Man and Space Invaders is too big a deal.

As another person born in mid 70’s, they basically were the Atari, and helped cleanse the palette of E.T, the game that couldn’t be finished!

Licensing. Midway, Namco and AtGames are all involved in some way shape or form with Pac-Man titles. Space Invaders involves at least Taito and Squeenix.

Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration Expanded Edition launching on Oct 25th, adding two new timelines and 39 games. Owners will be able to access the new content as DLC later this year.

Physical PS5/Switch for $39.99, Switch Steelbook edition for $49.99

Hopefully they use a different case manufacturer this time. I went through 4 copies of the first batch and couldn't remove the slipcover without destroying it. Also hoping there's more Jaguar titles on tap. Rich Whitehouse has continued his AMAZING work on the emulator while suffering awfully from cancer.

Atari 50 - The Namco Legendary Pack DLC - Announcement Trailer

Quote:
Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration is being expanded with THE NAMCO LEGENDARY PACK, featuring an all-new interactive timeline and set of games exploring the history of Bandai Namco titles on Atari hardware. Includes multiple versions of Atari PAC-MAN, GALAGA, GALAXIAN, DIG DUG, and XEVIOUS, along with video interviews, archival materials, documents, and photos from the era.
Atari Pac-Man was the first video game I ever played, as a kid I had no idea how bad it was Will absolutely buy this to replay the worst console version of Pac-Man.

You know I searched for this thread, couldn't find it so I dumped the info in the Digital Eclipse one. Good to see I wasn't going crazy knowing there was one search wasn't finding.

Somewhat unrelated, but Atari announced a bunch of retro hardware and software for their 50th anniversary. All very overpriced IMO. But these things tend to go on sale for vastly lower prices down the road on Atari's website, so it's something I might consider if it drops to ~$80'ish at some point.

There's an yellow Atari 2600+ Pac-Man themed console with one joystick retailing for $170. Also joysticks for that console in a variety of colors for $40 each.

There's also an Atari 7800 boxed set of 4 classic games for $170.

Now all I need is a RF Modulator. You know, that way I can feed that fancy HDMI output to Channel 3 of my console TV.

Ah, nice. They sell them on EBay. See, here. Adding this bad boy to my cart as we speak.

I'm not sure I need a yellow 2600. I have the 7800+ so I'm probably going to pick up the Pacman game since it has an updated version (It was never officially released for the 7800). It's cool that they included the original (terrible) Pacman for the 2600, but it would have been great had they updated the 2600 version to make it similar to Ms. Pacman (kind of like what it 'should have been'). The other games are the same as the original 7800 versions and I have those, so no need to 'upgrade' them. And now back to your Nintendo thread...

I kind of like the "light up marquee" because I miss the arcade, but yellow just looks wrong. Guess I'm of the age that any of the plastic models just aren't right, I prefer the classic wood grain finish of the original VCS/2600.
