I wouldn't call it childish but yes it is all pretty stupid

At the end of each of my posts I do try to be more positive. Especially because F4 isn't as unusually terrible as the vast majority of MCU product post Endgame. So even if I end up not liking the movie, here's hoping that at least the 3D is great for those of you that do like it

So far, this all sounds like the best Marvel title of 2025. Both in terms of the film and the 3D adaptation. I'm looking forward to the usual 3D reviews. If that turns out to be true, the Japanese disc will be my Christmas present under the tree.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking too. This does sound like it is competently made with enough positives and arguable negatives to be purely down to personal taste.

Annoyingly, I missed most of the Avatar trailer but the little I caught looked unsurprisingly excellent if just more of the same. It didn't do Fantastic 4 any favours as it inevitably pales by comparison. The opening New York scenes were of a similar standard to Superman.

Luckily, it picks up from the rocket launch onwards, there are some spectacular sights that amplify the awe and scale of the cosmos. Spectacular hyper stereo shots of the Four 'fourgrounded'? against the big bad are notable and give a real sense of its magnitude. The director seems to have known he was onto a good thing as these shots are held for a long time and from multiple angles.

The film was good but I thought the villains were better developed than the heroes, especially the slow reveal of the emissary. I also liked the suggestion that the antagonist was motivated by something other than plain evilness.

I think these 'cosmic' stories are where Marvel is at their best. Viewed in RealD.

Not a suggestion. A fact known to comic book readers.
[Show spoiler]Galactus is a force of nature, not a villain.
I don't think this is a spoiler but just in case

Nice to hear about the hyper-stereo shots. These should look cool on a large screen. With proper Atmos (and not Disney Atmous) audio this movie could be a fun spectacle

I sure hope this gets a 3D BR release. Based upon comments here and elsewhere, I am very excited about this one, and am NOT going to see it in a theater.

Silly me

Anyway back to reality. The F4 "story" leaks were true, showing how low bar of being the best MCU movie of the year really is. I do wonder if they reshot they way around some of the other leaks. But reviewers I trust do not HATE the movie and some of them even quite like it.Aapparently the movie looks great and if it sounds good too then maybe a 3D viewing will be worth it? So to anyone who watches this in 3D let us know about how it looks. I watched my last few 3D movies all in the same cinema, so if you can compare it to other 3D movies watched in the same cinema that would be great too.
It's a totally woke film by a woke company staring woke actors saying woke things. You should totally stay away from this woke movie and just shut up.

I'm invested in these solely for the 3d so admit I'm entirely ignorant of the lore, comic books and Disney+ shows.

[Show spoiler]I'm not sure what a force of nature means but I was referring to Galactus mentioning he was in a state of constant hunger. The manner of the delivery implied he was in pain and perhaps also a victim in some earlier genesis event. It's an interesting set up to have an old God wielding immense power but simultaneously weighed down by time and an inability to rest.

This movie is a must see in 3D. The best 3D movie since the high watermark of Phase 3.
10/10 reference quality. If you wait for the Japanese 3D blu ray and skip this at theatres you’ll be kicking yourself. Trust me.

As to your spoiler, it's a bit weird because the pain drives him to do what he does but it's also what makes him what he is.

3D's excellent. A nice blend of medium, high medium and some strong, with the Galactus scenes shining the most.

Reading you opinions on the 3D here and in reviews, it looks really great. I think the Japan 3D disc is a must-buy for under the Christmas tree.
Can't wait for the pre-order phase to start.

From the 3Dor2D.com Review:

"Fantastic Four First Steps is one of the best uses of 3D Marvel has delivered in years. Wow this movie dazzles in 3D. The third dimension doesn’t just exist here; it elevates the whole visual experience."

For those wondering if there's any subtitled scenes for the inevitable Japanese Blu-ray 3D release, only one near the third act
[Show spoiler] with Johnny interacting with Shalla-Bal.

Quick 3D review of Fantastic 4 3D:
Cinemark 3D theater. Good seat just left of center, view of screen about 65% of my main view. Sat upright, I don't recline back.
3D Previews: Avatar Fire & Ash: Medium to strong 3D layers. Nice!

3D Layering: 8.5/10. Medium to strong 3D layers. Really nice 3D conversion and one of the better ones.
3D Pop Outs: The baby floating popped out. Not too many pop outs from what I remember.
3D Framing: A good amount of shot compositions that work really well for 3D.
Favorite 3D Shot: The 3D literally takes off once they get to the Rocket ship taking off. From that point forward, the 3D improves from medium and goes more often into high medium to strong 3D. Looking back at Earth with the Rocket in the foreground, strong 3D and my favorite 3D shot aside from some of the cool city shots with Galactus the giant. The outerspace machinery and scenes really shine in stronger 3D in this film.
3D Summary: 9/10 I'll round this 3D conversion up to 9/10. It's an excellent 3D conversion with medium to strong 3D layers and a step up from Captain America Brave New World 3D and Thunderbolts 3D.

Damn, not even once? You should treat yourself and go see Avatar 3 when it comes out or some other big event movie in 3D. I love home 3D viewing but I feel like all 3D fans should experience it on the big screen at least once.

Yes, the 3D was a breath of fresh air. There were 2 problem at my theater. We couldn't hear dialog well, especially Galactus because his voice was so deep. The one time we could hear him was when it was a quieter scene. I complained about it and the fact that the picture was dark. Nothing was done about it. I'd like a 3D blu-ray for my home theater.
