Of course sales is the key, but it's such a small market that either metric can be used as an indicator of market health.

Only in the negative sense i.e. if something completely fails to sell. Otherwise it's just sales numbers that count. It's a lot easier to sell out of something if you don't make many to begin with. If you sell out a print run of 1000 that's not the same as selling out a print run of 5000 which isn't the same as selling out a print run of 10000. And of course once something is sold out nobody can buy it new any more and only resellers and scalpers benefit.

Well, Phil has already stated that the 3D titles aren't limited and become repressed once stocks are replenished. That already happened twice with JW: D.

As you know, it’s only temporarily sold out. It’s not OOP. And it’s absolutely good news for the market and Turbine that it (temporarily) sold out, which obviously means there IS a market, however small. I mean, would you rather the title not be selling? You don’t seem to have a valid point here.

My point was only that how many units an item has sold is more important than whether it has sold out or is temporarily out of stock, it's not a complicated one to understand.
