If you had the actual scoop on that news, you'd get even more "thanks" than when you started your In the Mouth of Madness thread.

It's my dream to make something up and have it posted as one of GeekGab's "scoops."

Why would they bother, they already have 4k releases.

Expect to see a lot of stuff come out around the 50th anniversary of the original 1978 film. I don’t have any insider info but it just makes sense. And we tend to get a lot of Halloween merch and releases around each 5-year anniversary typically.

Like I mentioned in a previous post, I think we might end up seeing them do the rest of the films in individual 4K steelbooks. Except maybe the Rob Zombie films, unless they’re able to tackle that license. If they don’t do H3 and H4 for October this year, I can see them doing them next year for 2026, then H5 for September 2027 and a steelbook boxset of H6, H20, and Resurrection for October 2027 (due to licensing). Which would leave the Blumhouse trilogy for 2028.

I think we’ll get a brand new movie in 2028 also for the 50th. Of course this is all just speculation on my part, but I think it makes sense.

I don’t think Universal is ready to license out the Blumhouse trilogy yet since it’s clearly still a cash cow for them, but you never know, especially a year or two down-the-line. The existing UHDs are fine, but Scream Factory would add more extras and matching packaging with the ones they’ve already done. H40 in particular could use a commentary; it’s the only Halloween film without one.

It’s possible Lionsgate might license out the Rob Zombie films for the right price, but I think Lionsgate Limited releases for those films is far more likely (hopefully they release them individually, not as a set).

But an Arrow 4K steelbook for the original film with the original artwork would be glorious.

Who cases if they do or don’t, they already are available on 4K. I’d rather get Zombie’s Halloween films on 4K.

There is a LOT of cut footage between the three films that hasn’t seen the light of day due to Universal not including it.

The original ending of 2018, a couple of Judy Greer’s best scenes in the trilogy, and a different ending for Ends, among other scenes. Not to say Universal would indeed hand the footage over, but there’s a good chance. That’s the main reason a lot of people want Shout reissues of the three films.

Plus 2018 could use a commentary.

I would love an interview with David Gordon Green as well or some sort of documentary on the making of Ends. They changed the story last minute and it was a complete change from what they were originally going to go with. I want to hear the story on what their plans were originally and how we got to the Ends we ended up with.
