I think if they don’t cast Ana De Armas, I will be vastly disappointed. She has the looks and also exudes kindness.

Should the thread title be changed to Wonder Woman Reboot instead? Gal Godot's time as Wonder Woman has ended last I heard.

She's 4" shorter than Gal, who's 5'10". WW was always tall. "Amazonian", remember?

And Wolverine is always short. Wolverine is 5'3 in the comics. Yet everyone embraced Hugh Jackman.

Over the years Wonder Woman has been as short as 5'8" and as tall as 6'4".

I just wish WW to have more mass on her frame, in the visual. Gadot was almost perfect visually for her. Just wish she made more mass to show for it. All that didn't' matter cuz she's a crap actor when she's front loaded to bear the drama. She was perfectly fine in BvS and ZSJL aside from like the "Kal-El" line mostly. But in her solo films? She wasn't the actor to do all that. Especially in WW2.

As stated previously, it's best to leave WW alone for now. She had her time and exposure. Now w/ a new universe got to let it breathe before we get another WW.

Gunn literally just said that WW is the highest priority right now at DCU.

No. He said "a priority" not "highest priority".

"I’ve always had Wonder Woman as a priority. But we got the first few things started, and there’s some other things that are really close to green-lighting – like there’s a television show that I hope that we’re gonna be green-lighting in the next few days.

"So now a little time has passed, and we really need Wonder Woman and we really need Batman, because they’re so important to us. And so it’s become a little bit more like going to everybody at DC and being like, we need to figure this out. We have good writers on Wonder Woman and we just have to make sure it’s working and they have to not be somebody who’s gonna take two years to write a script."

My opinion doesn't matter, but I see Wonder Woman as being one of the heroes which DC Studios and all involved should consider critical. Wonder Woman is one of the most significant DC characters in terms of the Trinity and the Justice League, as well as one of the most popular (I think in the modern era she trails only Batman, Harley, and Superman in comic sales, to use that as a quantifier). So a new Wonder Woman does need to be sorted through pretty quickly in my opinion, and is not a character that can be ignored for a hypothetical decade.

This is of course the complexity with the new DCU, as the DCEU gives an interpretation of Wonder Woman, Superman, Aquaman, and many others in recent memory, and so they'll need to navigate this carefully. It's a bit too bad too because how the DCEU portrayed Wonder Woman was quite aligned with what I think makes sense for the character. So unlike DCEU and DCU Supermans, I don't personally feel like I want DCU Wonder Woman to be particularly different from who we saw in the DCEU, which will make storytelling all the more critical to really promoting the character's individual film series as distinct. A low-effort visual way might be just setting things in the modern time to break with the DCEU movies. A proper Trinity film might be a nice way of introducing the character as we definitely don't need an origin story.

She is critical. She's a female character that is in pop culture and can be enjoyed. She just didn't have the presence w/ staying power you'd want as a property. She can specifically bring in a female audience that this genre misses out on at times. And, yeah. But much like Batman in the DCU, let the audience breath a bit before you give them another one. Reeve's Batman is its own different thing and it's very obvious to WHAT it wanted to do w/ what it did. You've got to make it worth it again. Gunn made it work w/ Supes.

Snyder's WW was mostly fine. Gadot isn't a strong actor but she's got w/ presence and action. His direction of her worked to her limitations mostly, MOSTLY. Jenkins' take on her sours cuz Gadot can't be forefront and it horribly showed too. I wasn't a fan of the first WW film. I enjoyed it more for what it tried to do than what it executed. Visually had some great moments and some nice action. Pine was great in it though. It just was a very stupid script that WB executed to do. It was a film that just never really felt like it could lead up to the same world that MoS started. A problem that can happen when you go back to tell and earlier story set in the same world. WW2 was Jenkins let go from the machine a bit and allowed to do her thing and it was just even worse. Loved the trailers for it though.

It's not so much that they got her nature wrong. It's just that they didn't really make her great to remember to stand out as something special like Bats has had success in. Akin to Gunn's Superman, she needs to be an experience of a presence you want to keep seeing and to build from. I love WW, the character, but think Jenkins and Gadot failed it moreso once they had her to freely play with. I don't know how Gunn will have her come back but I'd like to be perfectly defined enough initially to just get on and go pleasantly w/ her. Same goes for this world's Bats. Solidifying this Trinity as something big whereas previously we weren't allowed to have for various reasons.

I think our views are mostly aligned based on what you're saying here, and top-notch acting will only help form the basis of a more enduring Wonder Woman series. All I was saying is that the personality of DCEU Wonder Woman, the joyful warrior, is what in my opinion we need from a DCU Wonder Woman. I am less energized by a brutal warrior that is sometimes the characterization of her.

She's got her moments sure. She can the unstoppable warrior of sorts at times. It's just got to be given and received in a way that shows that Diana has a heart/soul in there too.

Cuz she is a mainstream figure, now more than ever, you've got to balance it out to be accepted with as much approval as you can for worldwide consumption. Define her well enough to build off of w/o issue.

I wish I remembered all the details till when Diana killed Maxwell Lord that was controversial at that time. And still today. Maybe they didn't do it right there, even given all the circumstances that pretty much defined what had to be done. There's things to balance. She's an Amazonian warrior, she should be ready to kill. There's also her being something more and aspire to be. A balance act. I think under Gunn we'll get a pretty well balanced one. If anything, a better actor for WW for sure. Cuz it's unfortunate that Gadot was a low bar to set.
