Plus 2018 could use a commentary.
I wouldn’t say no to seeing deleted scenes and alt ending but I’d still rather get RZ Halloween 1&2 on 4K first.

I’ve heard such conflicting things about Ends. I’ve read that they changed it a little but it was mostly the same film they were planning on making. Not sure what’s truth with that one.

The silent test footage of Cundey's crew trying out the Panaglide in a parking lot was put up on the net some years ago. An extra with Dean and/or Ray Stella commenting on the use of the system on Halloween and beyond would be really cool.

I would post the video of the Panaglide test, but when I searched YT it gave me the same video posted about a dozen times by just two user accounts. Something's not right there. Why spam YT with this? Looked at the accounts' home pages and they seem to be churning out AI edited videos, about ten an hour. The videos don't even have the test footage. Anyway. Here's BBC2's Talking Pictures from 1990 about steadicam, featuring John Carpenter.

The original plan was always to have all 3 movies take place on the same night. I’m pretty sure the directors and cast confirmed this way back when they were making these movies. That alone changes the whole story of the Ends version we got, so the changes had to be major rather than minimal.

Originally it was only going to be 2 films. "Adding" in Ends changed that.

It was going to be a "trilogy" in the sense that 1978 was the first, 2018 was the second. After the first's success (2018), it was decided to be a new trilogy.

I’m talking about once the sequel was announced, it was announced as a trilogy. I still remember the announcement like it was yesterday, the teaser dropped the names for the second and third films together.

Also, if we’re being technical, there were never any plans for a sequel to Halloween 2018 to begin with. It was intended to be a 1 and done film when they made the 2018 film. I’m pretty sure I remember them confirming that years ago. It was more of a wait and see what happens approach in terms of box office and success. Although, I think mostly everyone knew there would be more sequels.

This is definitely something I remember hearing at one point. Also the fact that they all mimick the first 3 original films is something else that makes me believe it was likely planned that way from the start (once it was decided to make it a trilogy). All three new films intros mimic their corresponding original entries. Even the plots share similarities. 2018 Michael escapes the institution he’s held at and returns to Haddonfield. Halloween Kills is a continuation of the same night just like the original Halloween 2. Then Halloween Ends is a different beast that takes the franchise in a new and different direction similar again to the original H3.

Id be very surprised if this wasn’t always the general idea once a trilogy was decided on.

Replying to some of the people who replied when I asked about the blumhouse trilogy getting releases from Scream Factory.

I'm well aware they have 4k releases already but the special features are pretty bare bones, I'd like to some releases with a ton of bonus features, commentaries, alternative endings etc. Maybe a proper in depth making of documentary on each one and ofcourse, the same style artwork as the other 8 movies got.

I'm don't dislike the Zombie movies but they feel so disjointed from the rest of the series I'd rather see the Blumhouse trilogy get the scream factory love first.

I remember reading this too. Obviously the pandemic changed their plans and they were even considering making COVID a part of the plot (thank god they changed their mind).

Shout RARELY does new special features anymore. This is one of the reasons I've been saying for a while now, Shout doing a Blumhouse Trilogy release would be silly. Outside of a DV run of 2018, it's doubtful they'd add anything meaningful. Most folks would not want a 30+ dollar reprint for each film, when perfectly acceptable 4Ks of the entire trilogy cost less than 1 shout 4K. Most (not all) of their "new" special features are commentary tracks featuing Literally Who? and Jim Bob the 4th assitant catering provider.

I think for Halloween they’d make an exception. Scream Factory has always had a thing for the franchise as well as for Carpenter. I can see them doing the Blumhouse trilogy with new features, especially if it comes out around the time of the 50th anniversary of the original.
