I’ll keep my order, and if Arrow releases one, sell off the Shout one.

Hate doing that though - lose money after shipping and eBay fees (if I can’t sell it on this site).

Sampled and A/B’d both discs quite a bit. The Shout Blu-ray is a revelation compared to the WB Blu - but it exhibits noticeable compression. The stereo audio track is heavily filtered for some reason on both new discs.

The 4K gives more detail and has better compression but the skin tones and colors seem strongly desaturated and don’t look quite right next to the Shout Blu-ray or the WB disc. I believe it may possibly be a color space encoding issue (perhaps graded in one color format and converted improperly at the encoding stage?)

The best way I can describe the 4K disc is to state the entire film now looks like it was shot on a cloudy/overcast day, even in brightly lit outdoor scenes that shine on the Blu-ray.

Dolby Vision vs HDR didn’t seem to make a marked difference in the onscreen desaturation.

I have a feeling this won’t be recalled. For me this is a rare instance where I would choose the BD over the 4K simply because of the color space issue.

Take a look at what THE DOLLARS TRILOGY are going for used.
I bought mine the 1st time they were sale priced at $17.99.
So if I wanted to sell mine it would $10 each and hope. That's a big loss.

I’m scared to look! Ha. I will be selling those when the Arrow trilogy arrives in August.

If it’s not a fairly rare 4k steelbook, something with a rare slip, or some expensive import, chances are you’re going to be selling at a loss.

Seelling BDs? Shoot - might as well give them away!

Sell like other items and list the bluray as free.
Like if you were selling a N.Y. Yankees item thrown in the bluray for free.
That way a buyer will buy your item that everybody else is selling because you are selling at the same price but giving a free bluray.
Plus you could ship then as media mail and get a discount from the post office.

Yeah, but say you sell one for $7, shipping is $4.50+, and then eBay’s fees, you’re looking at making $1 and change. Just not worth the time almost.

But, they're paying for the shipping right? I have only sold a few things and it's been a while but aren't the fees like 10%? or has that changed?

Fees are more like 15%. Unless you're a wholesaler or have other product to offset the losses, selling a blu ray for less than $10 on Ebay with $4.50 shipping (not including materials to ship), you're not making much on cheap blu rays, if anything at all.

Same. It's getting harder to shift the stuff that everyone's got, or doesn't care about, but there's always something in my line-up that's become rarer over time (or is OOP outright) or wasn't released over here to begin with and that helps to offset the stuff that sells for peanuts. I don't buy to sell, I'm just a serial upgrader so it's just luck whenever x disc becomes more sought-after over time, but I'll take it!

I take my unwanted fluff to my local record store and get cash or credit. The relationship I have with my income, it always feels like I come out ahead. I'm going down with a stack after work today

Question

Has Shout ever offered a replacement disc for a blundered up 4K or Blu-ray disc in the past? My set arrived today from Amazon in a huge box with no cushion whatsoever and it remains mint so at least I have that. Given what I have read in this post I will be watching my copy inside the next few days. If I am not happy with it I will do my part in telling Shout my experience. thanks

I always expect to sell anything used at a significant loss. Chances are someone is selling it new for a good price as well. So most people would just opt for that especially if it has a digital code. I don’t expect movies to appreciate in value when I buy them, but selling a few movies that I probably won’t watch again offsets the cost of new movies that I do want to watch. Until recently I still had two or three movies that had the rock in them as a cast member. Lol yeah no. My tastes have changed so much that I had no reason to keep many movies I bought 5-6 years ago. I wish Apple TV would remove some of them from my library with a simple click too.
