Go back a few pages in this thread, & you'll see where I bought mine Direct from the Sound Distributors site, tho' you can off their Ebay direct site as well. When I was looking to order mine, the Black ones were out of stock, so that's why I dealt directly with ERIC WINSTON at the vendor itself. Again, All the info for them & his contact info is a few pages back here. As for shipping in 24 hours; yes I assume so, IF the one you want is In Stock. Mine wasn't, so I emailed with Eric a few times & he gave me a code to save a few bucks. It wouldn't hurt to ask if there's a "Discount Code" of some sort if you're ordering & looking to save a few $$$$. I saved 15% off the total order, which in effect, made the Shipping free.

YW - Eric's not really one to Open Up with Lengthy answers you'll find, but hopefully you will be able to get Code to save a few bucks either way.

Damn.... they responded to a blink of an EYE (by e-mail)!!

If service is that fast... then the delivery should be just as quick

If all does not go my way for the *used* MFW-15 (warrenty concerns), I think I will go on ahead and order one of these babies and save $200.00 and maybe down the road, get another and be Rockin my "man-cave" just a little bit more .

We'll see whats up when AV123 is out of bed and answering their phones

Thanks,

Wow, that is fast as I believe their based out of the Vegas area (3 hrs time diff.--?) - Yes, for $229 & $29 shipping, & for all the Rave Reviews of them here, they are one of the better subs for that price range for sure.

Ah hell, no more free shipping? That kind of bites though it's not really surprising based upon the economy and all.

The PA-120 Sub is in my backseat! Did a quick prelim. check on it, no damage to the box itself, opened it up & looked at it as best I could w/out being able to take it out for a Full inspection, so T-Minus 5 hours til' I get er' home & set-up!! Yea baby, that's what I'm Talkin' about'!!

When I bought mine, I dealt directly with Eric there who gave me a code to knock off 15%, essentially making the Shipping Free anyway. I advised someone here earlier to talk to them direct & ask about a Discount Code similar to mine. They told me they were going up in price, but it's still the same $229 plus $29/freight, so maybe the Shipping that you say WAS free is the difference (?), but it was that same deal when I ordered mine. Maybe they haven't gone up yet as he thought. Hell, with the 120 Subs they sent out last week, that's $27,600 right there (!), so higher pricing may be on hold.

Love it. It's a serious performer at this price. If it were $100 more I'd suggest going elsewhere, but as it stands at this price (even with the shipping) it's hard to beat. It looks great, has good build quality, has great performance and does exactly what it needs to do. I think you could do much worse with $260.

Finally in hand. I'm eager to hear what you think in coming from the Polk sub to this.

Default Wow!!! - New PA-120 Sub!!

Holy Schnikees!! First, I upped the POLKS in my HT from 75db's to 80db's, and the Subs about 83db's, After setting up the PA-120 - btw, Holy Gorgeous GLOSSY Black Piano Finish on Top AND Bottom!! - I love how they covered it with a nice peel back covering to protect it in shipping. Anyway, the original PSW-10 had been on a SubDude with both on top of a 16" high End Table, but I had to lose the table; it's only rated for 50 lbs., & the PA-120 is 55 or 56 - so no way was I taking a chance. Anyway, I just set the new sub on the SubDude on the carpet & this thing Freakin' Rocks!! I'm watching LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD & the shootout in the kids apartment & alley with the automatic weapons was Freakin' Amazing. Next with the Apartment explosion scene when the delete button is hit I actually felt a rush of air go right thru me (at least it Felt like it - a nice big Low "WOOF" right into my body ). In the tunnel scene when the cars are crashing & one goes flying over McClane & Ferell's heads, That was another nice LFE Punch!

SO FAR, SO F_____G GOOD - Good God, I love this PA-120 & it's only been ONE Movie!! - Plus it's working Very nicely with my Secondary PSW-10 Sub thanks to the SPL Meter. Any of you who Don't have this $50 gadget have NO excuses for what it can do to your HT Audio system.

WTF?!?! - As I was typing this, going on over my shoulder, was this which about scared the Hell outta me: The scene when the Eastern Hub Headquarters gets blown to hell after McClane drops the SUV on the Asian bad-ass chick, Talk about MAJOR Heavy Sub Use, as the ground gets blown up & the whole facility goes sky high, then the lights in the cities go out - Okay, okay - you get it, right?! Anyway, I had to turn my volume down to -30 & I've had it at about -24 for the movie so far. Usually, when the speakers were at -75db's across the board, Blurays would be at -18 to -14 depending on the film.

So now, with the POLKS working to Perfection, my New PA-120 Sub doing some MAJOR Heavy Lifting yet still working in harmony with the PSW-10, I can't Wait to re-watch all of my Top Reference AUDIO Blurays again: HELLBOY II, The Hulk, Max Payne, TDK, Iron Man, Transformers, I Robot, Master/Commander, The Day After Tomorrow, Knowing (buying this soon), & The Main Bluray set I've been waiting to watch since I bought it: "BAND OF BROTHERS"

Sounds like you're having a blast. I plan on dumping one my subwoofer's next year and upgrading it, this will definitely be in my consideration. Congrats on enjoying your new purchase.

Why Yes, Cosmo' I definitely did - the movie just ended a few mins. ago. I should add that the final Action sequence with the fighter jet blowing crap all to hell with the Nice LFE Enhanced .50 Caliber guns was AUDIO NIRVANA - then when the freeway slabs started falling & slamming to the ground with Massive THUDS, it was too much. I had to turn the volume down Again from -24 to -30!! I LOVE IT!!

If you haven't watched it yet you gotta watch Knowing! I've only watched on DVD too! There's a scene in there towards the end that rivals the "Ironhide Flip".

Yea I just watched that this week (Rental: due back today - Friday actually, so I'll be heading out in a few to their drop box), but it's fine - I'll be buying it when the price comes down anyway. With the new PA-120 sub, it'll be ON when that movie goes on again. I have the Directors' Cut of WATCHMEN - also was due back Friday - that I'll try to watch tomorrow after work; but I get home about 9:30pm & that movie is about 20+ mins. Longer than the release in theaters, so that's prob. a bit over 3 hrs. IDK, might just return it & rent it next time or buy it eventually.

Interesting confirmation. I set each of my PA 120s on a bar stool fit to hold a 250 lb man. I put a neoprene foam rubber pad under the subs. That put them at least 30" off the floor. There were some differences measured in the dips and peaks in 20 Hz to 100 Hz range but only shifting them some. However, the overall response was similar. I couldn't hear any improvement having them sit so high off the floor. So I put them back down. They also look like crap sitting that high off the floor. My wife really thought I was going nuts.

I don't think a subdude would make any difference either. The 1" thick neoprene foam pads seem to do just fine especially for isolating my subs from the tile floors.

I calibrated my HT speakers including both PA 120s to read 75 db SPL at the center of the couch which is about 13 ft from the TV screen. My Yamaha RX V663 receiver needed the volume control set at -0.5 db before my SPL meter would read 75 db at that distance. I usually listen to most of my BDs having the volume control set anywhere within the -20 db to -15 db range. You are so right, no one has an excuse for not owning an SPL meter.

Don't forget U-531. Those depth charge explosions have a deep sonic footprint that'll ripple right through your body. Pearl Harbor is another during the Japs attacking the the ships and air bases on the island.

Well a big congrats on getting your PA 120 set up right.

You are almost going from one extreme to another there with those tests. An inch of isolation will not help much. Having a subwoofer multiple feet off the ground is a bad idea too. That is too high to have any benefits from the Axial room mode. It is recommended that you build a subwoofer riser with built in isolation and not to build a riser over two feet tall unless you have tall ceilings. Anywhere from 6"-12" is a fair trade off. Raising a subwoofer is nearly as important as moving your subwoofers around the room.
