Just... no. That's a great folk-whimsy contrast cover. It's actual-art-not-'shopped-by-intern-at-11th-hour cover that fits the movie excellently. Criterion has some doozies that are objectively bad, no doubt, but this one is not that at all.

I'm torn on that History of Violence cover. It DOES fit the movie thematically very well.

But it's also butt ugly.

I really wish we could get the poster art for this one. It had an awesome poster..

With that said, I always love it when someone in this thread attacks "sacred cow" Criterion covers.

Many C-bags are delusional, but the label's covers have gone downhill (with some exceptions) since the Criterion Designs coffee table book era.

This is a particularly good month for them, cover-wise (and movie-wise), though.

I agree I think the cover is growing on me I really am starting to appreciate it more. Kyle's analysis was really spot on too it's a very unique cover. Super excited for practically everything in October as I don't own any of them, and have only seen one of them before.

Too bad she's barely in it. I'd much rather watch the movie promised by the cover (one actually starring Ms. Pfeiffer and Ted Danza) than that weird American Graffiti/Porky's knockoff it is.

I just like the poster art for A History of Violence so much.

The Monster Dog cover isn't awesome but it's proper and appropriate. I don't know what a better option would be. That looks like original poster art to me..

Also, it's the original poster art so it gets a pass. Orignal poster art, no matter how bad it is (which Monster Dog's art is not) always gets a pass.
