If you want the best possible audio quality from Apple Music or any other streaming service, then Apple recommends using wired headphones or speakers, along with an additional device known as a DAC, or “digital–to– analogue–converter”. Using a DAC can be a little fiddly, though, so here’s our roundup of the best DACs that are suitable for use with Apple devices.

Thankfully, I've never been much of an audiophile... That would have added a whole layer of complexity..and expense to this hobby..lol

Another TV series I’d recommend is True Detective, season 1 is the best IMO.

I have seen the original 9 seasons of The X-Files and the two movies, but not the newer seasons 10 & 11. I only have those seasons in my digital collection; the rest I have on blu-ray. It might be time to revisit this series soon as I have not seen it in high definition.

Reminds me of someone here, whose name escapes me , that claims if they can't see the difference then no one can and, taking it one step further, therefore there is no difference.

It was more never racking than anything...in the last year I've had to lift a 50 lbs projector onto a shelf that I made ( not a handyman ) and this receiver onto the tempered glass that I would have bought so long ago that I have no recollection of what it's weight tolerance would be...I like to live dangerously 😅...lol...

Let us know how Sorcerer was please.
I might check into the Bates Motel soon. I'm looking forward to the amenities, especially the little shampoo bottles.

I only got The Wages Of Fear 4K watched last night; it's 2 hours 33 minutes long. It's a masterpiece of a film and it looks pretty good on 4K despite some soft shots here and there. It also only has SDR.

Sorcerer is next in line; probably won't see it until Thursday night as I host a multi-player online session of Baldur's Gate 3 on Wednesday nights.

I mentioned Bates Motel without seeing Gotmule’s recommendation. Glad someone else appreciates the fantastic Vera Farmiga.

A lot of what's on your list requires importing and I can not find any listing for The Enfield Poltergeist; do you mean this instead:

Why is only the first season of True Detective recommended? Do the other seasons suck?

Yes, sorry.

Yeah, season 1 of TD is by far the best imo. All different stories so each season self contained.

I keep forgetting how to link the covers.

As Steedeel said they are completely different stories, settings and characters. Season 1 is fab, 2 and 3 OK and season 4 with Jodie Foster very good.

Fargo is another very good series.

All subjective of course. As my Dad used to say - One man’s meat is another man’s poison

I was obsessed with that show. Monday nights were watching Moonlighting with sister, takeaway, then X Files!

As well as the Alien conspiracy episodes I loved the weird creature episodes especially Flukeman who I mentioned in your Movie Monsters Nightmare Fuel thread.

Absolutely, the creature episodes were exceptionally well done. Toombs was one of the highlights of course.

Default Audio test request

Would those with AVP’s or AVR’s that have decibel display for audio level do a simple test for me. Pick a movie with some bombastic audio, start by turning down your audio before starting the chosen scene then at your normal seating position turn up the audio till it is barely perceptible and note the audio level on your device. Next, turn up your audio till it just starts to become uncomfortably loud and note your audio level again.

Please post those two readings here. Some devices will read between some low number (–) and 0 while some will have a low number (–) to some + value. If your device reads into + numbers then post as such. Example, your range may be –53 for the low test and +7 for the high test.
