United Kingdom Missing (1982) - Indicator/Powerhouse release UK.

Just got this today. Really good release. Nice booklet and an array of special features. If you're a fan of this film it's worth picking up.

Recently got this in conjunction with the Indicator sale event. Why in the world is this not available in Region A? Luckily I was able to order it after getting the modification part for my Oppo Blu-ray player specifically in order to view the German Region B release of The Alamo with restored footage. Most of the Indicator discs were Regions A, B and C, but not this one. It had multiple Oscar nominations, and won for Adapted Screenplay, so it’s not like it’s an obscure specialty release. Are there rights issues that prevent a North American release? Anyway, I’m looking forward to watching it.

Criterion released Missing on DVD back in the 00s in the US (the extras are great). They may still hold the US rights. I'm surprised they haven't upgraded it to Blu Ray by now.

Watched this today. Solid drama with some great acting.
There seem to a slight error in the disc, because I did noticed that there are two moments in the film where there is a frame missing, or at least something happens so the screen skips a second.

Do you have timestamps? I have the Criterion DVD and could check if it’s on that disc.

Hey, I couldn't find the first one but the second one is at a very important scene near the end. It's at 1:53:06. (PAL/Euro)These are the two frames right after eachother, notice how the head from the person in the back is in a different direction.

So the same thing happened on the Criterion DVD. I don’t know what it is.

It's not an error on the disc, it's present in most if not all versions of the film - the UK VHS and DVD and American laserdisc had it and the web version on Amazon also had/has it.

Also cf. a similar thing in Sorcerer.

Probably a VERY subtle jump cut, done to change the pacing of a lengthy static shot. It was common in old films, when they never imagined people would be studying them frame-by-frame on home video

Allright, guess it's something in the filmprint itself then.

It's very noticable though, not subtle at all. Otherwise I wouldn't have noticed it during my first time watching this film? This particular scene is very important, so I don't think it has to do with pacing at all.
