Anyone know who has the UK rights to Takashi Ishii's Freezer? There's a US release from Kani this month. Hope Third Window have it which would save getting the US release.

To be honest, had looked at it a few years ago, but wanted to focus more on Ishii's titles which hadn't been, or may not get released, instead of Freeze Me which I thought would for sure be picked up by someone. Apparently it was by a UK company too, so will be out there sooner or later.

None of the above, but some of the bigger festival ones such as Renoir, Namibia, Pale View, etc will get out there by someone or another

Just watched the clip TWF posted from A Night in Nude with Naoto Takenaka having a, er, bad time. Wow. Shall be pre-ordering from Terracotta. I regard Takenaka as the Nic Cage of Japan. As soon as he shows up you know it's gonna get wild.

I think Wood Job would be a good fit for TWF

Good to see TWF releasing the Takashi Ishii boxset. I got the 2024 JP blurays and I remember the ads mentioned Original Sin had never been released on blu, and Red Flash hadn't even seen a DVD release!
Some of the themes in Red Flash got distilled into Sweet Whip, probably the most brutal Takashi Ishii film along with Original Sin. Edit: I would start watching the set with Original Sin first, and finish up with Red Flash. |

Maybe watch them in disc order or by release date which would be in the following order (which is basically disc order but backwards ie starting with D4 & finishing up with D1. Surprised the set wasn't done in the order below like ALL boxsets should be done):
Original Sin (1992) A Night in Nude (1993) Angel Guts: Red Flash (September 1994) Alone in the Night (October 1994) |

In Red Flash, the director reuses a lot of the "pizza ingredients" he's used before across films he's directed or written, and somehow it all fits for maximum impact. Carlotta Films seems to agree, LOL.

Toho charge too much - so I think that's Shinobu Yaguchi's entire filmography out the window. Who knows, things might change.
EDIT: I see Yaguchi released a horror film this year... EDIT EDIT: Does anyone know if Yaguchi's lesser known films are available anywhere? Rain Woman Bird Watching One Piece! Parco Fiction EDIT EDIT EDIT: Is there a specific order you're supposed to watch the 4 Tales of Nami in? They're not in release order in the set. Last edited by Yurakucho; 08-24-2025 at 02:18 PM. |
