It's always tempting when a Criterion 4K goes so low, but I don't know if I'd ever be in the mood for it.

Ebert gave it 4/4 stars, but also said that most things in it aside from Streisand are weak. The site's trailer didn't look particularly interesting, either.

Is this film likely to disappoint people who aren't really into Streisand or musicals? This might be one deal that I actually can resist.

I feel the same way you do. But I've never seen the movie, so I'm also curious to see what others think.

I loved Funny Girl when I was young, but I find it wears on me now. I know these deals are often hard to pass up, but IMO If you aren’t into Streisand or musicals you can safely (maybe even wisely) skip it.

(I did briefly consider it for the Wyler doc though! Haha.)

I watched What’s Up, Doc? earlier this year and absolutely loved Streisand in it, Funny Girl is kinda her quintessential role so I picked it up after enjoying the trailer

I've also heard it has a more "serious" tone to it.

I love What's Up, Doc? too, but the only thing it has in common with Funny Girl is the lead actress.
