I guess they've got the option of moving them if you need to with less hassle.

Ideally I'd like everything in one place, but unless I go five deep in an alcove, it would be tough!

Current set up cost me about £150 for all the wood & brackets. Just 4x2 for the uprights & 1x2 battens for the shelving. Internal walls were a bit of a nightmare as they are all aeroblock/breezeblock walls so had to drill 12mm holes & use dewalt aerated concrete anchors & coach screws for the wall brackets. They're holding well though.
Holding about 3000 BD's at the moment & will hold over 3500 when full.
Also lined the surface of each shelf with thin strips of the soft side of black velcro tape to stop the risk of cases being damaged or scratched.

Yep, that set-up is the easiest and best solution imho. Your home made step is a nice touch.

The whole wall gets covered to each individuals needs.

Really nice set-up
I like the simple approach, which gives it a clean look and keeps it functional. The bit I bolded is a nice touch as well. Just this morning when putting a box-set back on my shelf I had a panicked "oh wait, did I just dent the side of the box there?" moment But all was fine.

Oh and I especially love the little two-step ladder. Very practical, but still looks like a piece of furniture. Nicely done
