Default Okay so This Wendy's Horror.

Hey,

fine the guy and many out there eat Wendy's food. Sure who wouldn't crave a Spicy Chicken Meal or even the Triple Stack Burger Meal. This guy ate and enjoyed Wendy's to the point he somehow ate a Wendy's Spoon.

Here is the article.

Quote:
"I know I didn't chow down on a spoon!" declared John Manley, who recently discovered that an eating utensil was the source of his two years of ill health, coughing, vomiting and pain.

The Wilmington, North Carolina, resident had surgery last week to remove part of a plastic spoon from his lung. And it wasn't just any old plastic spoon; it came from the fast-food chain Wendy's, with the restaurant logo clearly visible on the handle.

"It must have been in the food or drink," Manley told CNN affiliate WECT.

His doctor found the spoon after looking into his lungs with an endoscope, a medical instrument with a long, thin tube containing a light and a video camera.

"He explained that there was an object down there, and it had writing on it," Manley said. "It spelled out 'Wendy's' on one side and 'hamburgers' on the other, and I was a little floored."

So were his relatives, who, when they were telephoned with the news, were eating ... Wendy's.

Thats a scary one.

I thought you could tell the difference when chewing food. Then again it must have been very tasty. Excuse me I think I have a Mickey D bag in my stomach since I like to devour anything with a Mickey D logo.

Sounds like he was spoon fed.

Sorry, couldn't help myself. Really, though, I'm glad they found it.

Things you eat do not go into your lungs. This makes no sense. Have you ever had a little bit of water or tiny bit of food go down the wrong pipe, it feels like you are going to die. I cannot imagine anyone would let a spoon of all thing go down there and not realize it.

There are people, usually older people who have had a stroke or other brain injury, who suffer from "silent aspiration." This is when they aspirate something into the lungs and they do not feel it and the cough reflex doesn't kick in. I assist in endoscopic swallow studies to help determine when this is happening and what food/drink consisitencies are safest for the person to consume.... but yeah.... a spoon fercryinoutloud? I just don't see that happening. Something sounds fishy with this story.

Thats what I was thinking as well. I could understand a piece of plastic but an entire spoon let alone being in the Lungs is crazy.

I guess sometimes the unheard of do happen.

So assume for a minute this was a silent aspiration. Isn't it logical to think that there have been FOOD on this spoon that he literally inhaled? Or does he just eat plastic ware sometimes? If food had made it into his lung along with the spoon (and why wouldn't it have?) he would have had a serious infection when that food started to rot in his lung, which means he would have gotten sick and gone to the doctor, and they would have found the spoon long before it sat in his lung for 2 years. This is total BS. Why doesn't someone pick on a fast food joint besides Wendy's for a change?

how fat was this guy?
I mean, I had a fat friend eat a toothpick once (imbedded in a bacon wrapped filet mignon) but to get a spoon down and have it go into the lungs? I mean, these spoons are not small by any stretch but to not feel it when biting and chewing the food, that is just unbelievable.

Plus, how far into the lungs did this get? I mean, a spoon head isn't a small thing - I would think the bronchial tubes would trap this and the guy would feel like he was dying...I mean two years?

I'm calling BRAVO SIERRA
