It's promoted as just "collectible" like Tombstone is, so it shouldn't be as limited as Kingdom of Heaven or the Disney releases. Tombstone kept coming in and out of stock for a while, I suspect they'll do the same with this.

There's also always the UK versions which are not limited.

Really bummed to learn the audio mix is unremarkable.

I had trouble understanding some of the dialogue on the Blu ray.... It seems that will still be a problem with this release?

Which is particularly fascinating given that the Microsoft store no longer sells movies.

It is actually available on Apple TV (and just flipped to 4K DV) and Movies Anywhere though (and probably the others too).

I acknowledge it's a visual upgrade, but I muxed the audio from the DVD. The neutering of the bass is inexcusable and unacceptable.

lolz. Sound is damn spectacular. Just finished watching it. Sight and aural improvement all around. They sure made use out of the surrounds of this one, and not just the battle scenes either.

Audio Notes:

Sound designer Richard King earned Master and Commander an Oscar for its sound effects by going to great lengths to record realistic sounds.

The original surround mix is known to have higher dynamical range and deeper bass on the NTSC DVD than on any Blu-ray release https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...&postcount=500. Indeed, it has higher dynamical range (DR 20.57) than the compatibility track of the UHD (DR 18.68) which is a downmix of the Atmos

"all around"? Including the bass? That is objectively not true.

All previous formats for this film have made use of the surrounds. Some have noted that the failure to put the overhead footsteps in the Atmos speakers is a big oversight.

I don't care. It sounds great, I'm not going to throw in old discs just to get more bass and whatnot. I can only hear one movie at a time. So.....objective, not objective...doesn't make one ounce of difference to me, and a lot of others I'm sure. You lot can complain and that's perfectly fine, but the Atmos track on the new disc is that we all have.

Luckily my Yamaha lets me boost sub on the fly, called sub woofer trim in the App. Digital bits gave this an A for video and an A+ for audio!

The BEQ for this shows a 57.6 dB boost at 21 Hz. I doubt that your Yamaha is capable of that.

Bill Hunt's credibility is questionable.

It is pretty comical. "BUT LOOK AT THE GRAPH!!!" lolz. Hey, I was all about this stuff about 20 years ago. But now I just simply don't care the way a lot of people do here. I used to get worked up over this stuff as well. But alas, no one can simply just read a comment and move on.

For context and comparison, what is the hardware setup/environment you are listening with?

Got mine today, disc is unscratched which is a nice feeling after the crap I'm going through with Thunderbolts currently... there's a little ding on the bottom right corner, but I might decide it's small enough to not care about lol
