I agree with Kryptonic. Not trying to defend my purchase at all. The Jap release does look a little too heavy on the colors. Not that it looks bad though. I think it will all come down to personal preference in the end.

Buy the UK version instead.
They got the steelbok one as well. It has truehd transfer is probably same as the new 2009 version. But it doesn't had the annoying loading lag that u.s. version, if you not using ps3 or oppo you will see lagging in the menu of the u.s. version, i never own the old release but the new one i heard improve overall. |

no... that's what YOU are doing. And he's right. Skynet features more natural looking skin tones. Since when is Arnold almost beet red. All bluray versions of T2 are from the same master. They just artificiality upped the contrast on the japanese version and quite honestly, it looks pretty stupid.

The problem I might have with the comparison shots is that it's zoomed and I wonder how much difference in detail there would be in normal motion on my 60" display from 8-9 feet back. I agree the color looks just a bit too saturated and the image very slightly more (artificially) sharpened on the Japanese version as the Skynet seems to have a little less EE noticable around the side of Arnold's neck and top of jacket. However, clearly the Skynet has less detail. I guess it depends what you prefer.

Are you guys really that foolish as to attribute more saturated colors as a better HD picture? The difference in definition is minimal in that screencap and I doubt many could tell the difference between the two in full motion without a side-by-side comparison (or by guessing based on which one is more saturated). The long and short of it is that while imports may be a little better, the US editions are WAY cheaper and still look fine. And knowing this'll be double dipped again, I'd sooner buy a decent US edition for now than to spend way more on a good import edition, knowing I'll probably end up rebuying later on. Quote:
And if the DNR bugs you that much, you can spend even less and get the first US edition. |

Skynet all the way. The difference people discuss between HD versions is minimal, it's not worth the discussion in my opinion, these releases aren't night and day, they are all from the same master, and until a new version comes along (hopefully in 2011 with the release of the discussed 3D version), this one will have to do.
We all know the version taken from the 3D remaster will kill it anyway. |
