Default What arthouse movies should I get on blu ray ?

Hello all!

What arthouse movies should i get on Blu Ray ?

It seems that there are almost none of them out on Blu Ray, since it's mostly the more commercial movies being released first, which i totally understand by the way.. but it would be nice to have some arty stuff.

I already ordered my favourite movie ever, BARAKA .

Criterion should have some movies for you. As well as The British Film Institute releases (only region B though).

The Seventh Seal might be a good choice. I only own it on Criterion DVD, but people are loving the Blu-ray release.

The links provided will help you, but as mentioned Ingmar Bergman's The Seventh Seal is a must have. The Blu-ray looks amazing and the movie is the best there is. A true masterpiece.

Don't know how much art house it is, but Passolini's Salo also looks amazing on Blu-ray. It's out from BFI (region B locked).

It's an art film, usually foreign (non US). Independent and noncommercial. Typically not aimed at the big audiences.

Closest thing I can think of is The Machinist with Christian Bale.
