Default Gaming on the Go

Doing some leisure travel and I’m curious how fellow gamers manage gaming access while traveling. If you are a Nintendo or PC gamer it’s easy, for console gamers it’s either drag around bulky equipment, use subscription that includes cloud gaming, or take a laptop/handheld PC.

I chose the handheld PC for this trip, easy to travel with and gives me access to my Steam library and the “Play Anywhere” portion of my Xbox library. My overseas location supports GFN, but PS cloud streaming/Xbox cloud gaming do not work.

Anyway, just wondering at what point it would be worth it for someone to take a console on a trip that includes air travel.

[Show spoiler]Sure, I’m supposed to be on vacation, but it’s like a thousand degrees out, 100% humidity, and I’m mosquito bait.

Probably depends on the console. Your biggest issue is gonna be the physical size; I would probably write off a PS5 or Xbox Series X immediately, but if you've got an old PS4 Slim or a Series S you could likely find space for it. Obviously you're not gonna be able to take it out during the flight, though. You might also want to keep in mind that, if you're staying in a hotel, you might not be able to change the TV settings, so if it's got motion smoothing enabled then you're gonna be stuck with extra lag.

I got a flip up screen and carrying case for Series S during Prime Day last year. Nearly brought it with me, would have been smarter than bringing PS Portal which just isn’t working.
