I think I've seen that both flagship titles (MKW and DKB) started life on the original hardware). No excuse since the development times were long but I expect Prime 4 to show off the system properly. And yes I know that was in development even earlier but we already know it was completely scrapped at one point so fingers crossed.

Feels like a very significant leap to me. It is the first Nintendo system that has entered the modern era of visual fidelity. The BotW/TotK performance and visual upgrades are genuinely transformative, and perfectly demonstrate the major upgrade compared to the OG Switch. Even as a PC gamer who is used to running modern games at native 4K at 60+ fps, I have been impressed with the Switch 2. Finally having HDR and a solid resolution/frame-rate combination makes all the difference.

That said, I do imagine the upgrade is less striking for those who primarily plan handheld, since the screen does feel like a step backwards from the OLED Switch.

I’ve never wanted to stop hearing about a game more than this one.

I’m with you, the upgrade is substantial and very apparent. In addition to the ones you mentioned, games like Mario Kart and Donkey Kong could not run anywhere near how they perform and look on the original Switch. Plus the huge resolution and frame rate upgrades on other games that have gotten updates. Look at Mario Odyssey for comparison, it’s night and day.

Thankfully there's also Gamescom in 2 weeks, I could see the date being revealed there.

I agree with you, but also I do truly want the Silksong fans to be happy.

I feel their pain as a Kingdom Hearts fan, 3 years and no new KH4 trailer.

Dragon Ball SPARKING! ZERO will be 30fps on Switch 1 and 2, game on cart for NS1 while NS2 gets a friggin' Key Card (they'll complain no one bought the game). Sigh.

Switch 1's graphics look pretty nice cell shaded-like, but sucks it's only 30fps. Framerate > Graphics for me.

Haven't seen this reported anywhere else.

Macronix, the Taiwanese company that’s been making Nintendo’s game cards for years, just shared some interesting news in its latest financial report. Turns out, Macronix’s ROM chips are being used in both the current Nintendo Switch and the Switch 2 game cards.

But here’s the fun part: they’re cooking up future cartridges using a mix of their own MLC NAND and some outsourced 3D NAND, depending on how much space is needed. But what does that mean for gamers? Different size Switch 2 game cards could be on the way!

There’s been a lot of Mario 40th anniversary speculation, regarding the types of games Nintendo might release for it.

I would think Super Mario Sunshine will get added to the GameCube NSO in September (and Luigi’s Mansion added in October). That’s an easy guess, since we know it’s coming at some point.

I’d also hazard a guess that Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 will get a bundle release for purchase (both digitally and physically). They might choose to make it a Switch 2 exclusive, and exclude the Switch 1, but you never know. Galaxy 1 is in the out-of-print Mario 3D All-Stars for Switch 1, so it’s not out of the question. Some think Galaxy 2 will get its own release, but I’m thinking Nintendo will want to put Galaxy 1 back into circulation.

I do think they’ll release something for the Switch 1, so it isn’t left out of the anniversary celebration, but I’m not certain what that would be. There’s talk of Super Mario Bros Wonder DLC, but some expect that to be part of a Switch 2 Edition upgrade pack (like Kirby and the Forgotten Land).

Hopefully Mario Kart World receives some interesting updates, but that might not get announced alongside the Mario anniversary festivities.

We’re still likely a few weeks away from a Mario-centered Direct. I just wanted to get some of my thoughts out there. Some folks online are thinking Nintendo will just put out a Mario 3D All-Stars, but add Galaxy 2, but I figure they’ll place Sunshine into its inevitable NSO spot, and Mario 64 is already on NSO, so that just leaves Galaxy to get its own release.

I doubt I’m thinking of everything, and Nintendo will surely surprise us with a thing or two, so I’m looking forward to it.

TGS is about 6 weeks away, wouldn’t be surprised if the next ND is the week leading up to the event and then hands-on at TGS. I wonder if Nintendo will do another battle-royale style game similar to Super Mario 35.

I'd love for it to be the formal announcement of the next 3D Super Mario, but that seems unlikely. I also think Mario Maker 3 won't be until at least a year or two after the next 3D Mario game is released. A new All-Stars games seems the most likely to be announced. Unfortunately, I've seen rumors of a New Super Mario Bros All-Stars, including the New Super Mario games from the DS, 3DS, and Wii. Those were OK games, but I always felt they were very generic 2D Mario games, and among my least favorite Mario platformers. I'm MUCH rather just get an enhanced Mario Galaxy 2 re-release or something like a full blown remake of Super Mario 3 or Super Mario World, though the latter two are very unlikely. Nintendo generally doesn't like to do remakes of their classic Super Mario games.

I’d like a port of Super Mario 3D Land. It was fun, short like a classic SMB game, and fully playable in 2D.

I think Fast Fusion has to be the best value on the Switch 2 right now. It's super fun and does a much better job showing off the capabilities of the new system than the first party games do. Really cool visuals and rock solid performance for $15.

Finally succumbed and got a SanDisk 512GB MicroSD Express card from Walmart at about 3/4 of the market price. Honestly, it's holding out very well, and it has about 350GB of space left after moving all of the system storage stuff to there. I think I should be in the clear as long I don't get game key card games. Only Mario Kart (both of them) is eating most of the space alongside what I presume are update files for the physical games.

SanDisk will probably be one of the last of the big name brands to make a 1TB version.

New Kirby Air Riders Direct announced for tomorrow at 9AM EST. Hopefully we get a wide variety of playable characters. Longer than the usual single game Direct too, clocking at 45 minutes.

In the manage software or whatever it is called screen it differentiates between the game file and update data to show what makes up the total file size if you want to get an exact look at what is taking up the space.

Edit: My mistake, the split is between internal storage and SD card, not game and DLC/updates.

Are the Air Riders games good or is it just an internet meme thing? I'd never even heard them mentioned casually until this new title was announced and then it's all OMG AIR RIDERS!!!!!!!!! DEEP CUT!!!!!! SAKURAI!!!!!!!

And 45 minutes for another racing game not MKW is a pretty big swing.

Kirby as a “genre” has never really interested me at all, so I’ll likely skip this one. I don’t need another racer.

I think Kirby 64 is the last game I actually played.

Most of the games seem too experimental and unfinished for me. There's just something about them that lacks.....Nintendo polish? I did like Planet Robobot and Forgotten Land though.

A new survey is going around now about NSO, the value it provides and what aspects provide what levels of value.

Just completed it. In my comments I noted I wish the ability to purchase retro Nintendo titles offered in the NSO expansion pak is available similar to virtual console.
