When the real version launches, are we going to have the same set up?
Cos if so, it's bloody ridicolius!

this is extremely common in shooters now
I blame COD4 for this nonsense

but it doesnt ruin the experience

The fact remains that the logic of boosters and rewarding more experienced players with them is a load of crap. If you applied that logic to sport, lets say that because Tiger woods is the number one Golfer, he should be rewarded with the abilty to move his ball 50 yards closer to the green, while a rank amatuer plays as normal.

Also, some people here dont seem to have grasped the concept of "learning". You dont teach somebody to play Basketball by making them play one on one versus Kobe Bryant! You dont teacha student piano by giving them Beethoven from lesson one and expoecting them to "learn" from consistently failing!!

A properly desiigned game would allow you to have some sucess, but also continue to provide a lasting challenge. E.G. Fifia 09, which lets you enter a lobby with players of your own skill rating. Anyone can be an "expert" at any game if you spend 6 hours a day on it, but for the average person, it's simply no fun to keep logging in and geting owned.

Mental.
So you want something like the new MW2 game were it rewards you for dieing 4 times in a row they give you boosted health ,Now that is what I feal is dumb no game in my opinion is so hard were you can not get in there any do damge,Take cod for instance yea that guy might have a 50cal sitting on the roof at level 55.As Im there with a mp5 level 6 I can find a way to run up on him and spray him down.Like any game you just need to adapt and find your Mojo because in reality most of the good stuff is usually at lower levels.Im using cod as a example just because Im not familiar with all the boosters I dont think I have any and I go 18-4.

Maybe the game just isnt for you,Shoot I cant swim so what do I do I stay my @$$ out the pool.

I can see your point. But I can't really recall a game that doesn't reward you for playing well, by upgrading your weapons or boosters/perks.
Call of Duty you have to build up to get certain guns and perks, so I don't see much of a difference between the two.
The nice thing is when the game comes out everyone will reset, everyone will begin at a level playing field.

Not only was it him it was two other players as well.
I've been having the same issues as well.

I was playing one game and this group of idiots(all buddied up and levels 30 and above) played against myself(lvl 13 at the time) and a group of 3-9 lvl's. During the game they're saying go back to Call of Duty you pus**es, and then they began to call me a N****r, yes the N-word. First off I'm not black, the guys saying this and my teammates weren't either. I have never played with a over seas player who's called someone a N****r. Is this just our American ignorance or what.
It's happened to me a couple times. Once, a guy came shooting at me and I knew I was going to die so I just threw a bomb at him (he was right next to me) and after he was blown up, said "Kill me with a gun like a real man". He was doing a bit of smack talk before but that was really unnecessary and stupid. There was some guy on my team who called some of the opposing players n****** after being killed.

I see what you're saying, but to flip your analogy: Tiger woods is the number one golfer in golf--as such he gets the most money, best endorsements, most expensive gear, nicest clothes, most comfortable underwear, etc.--all of which is likely to continue to improve his game--whilst lower-ranked players may not be so fortunate.

The idea of boosters, unlockables, etc. in these console shooters is to provide players an incentive to keep coming back. Whether it be player-stat-boosters, better guns, or whatever, unlockable items are really the only way to provide a progressive experience to players in a multiplayer shooter since the maps just repeat and there is no story to speak of.

Also, there's the idea that as all players gain experience, the enhancements they unlock will just cancel each other out. True, new players may have to struggle a bit, and I think you have some legitimate concern here: particularly for the games that have long-lasting appeal--where some new players may come in a year or better after many players have become very experienced. It seems like MW2 is going to have some perks that will actually provide a boon for newbies, and I'm curious to see how that will work out.

Only thing I can tell the OP is this (and I don't play the MP beta).

The MP beta is probably filled right now with experienced TPS/ FPS clan players, who want to get a feel of the MP dynamic in U2.

The U2 Mutliplayer experience, when the game releases, will not be in a vacuum (like the demo) though. You will likely go first through the single player experience, which is the one intended to teach you all the base mechanics you will need to use.
After that, you will have matches with plenty of experienced, but also inexperienced, players.
Personally, I don't see the point of those demo/ multiplayer beta for the inexperienced FPS/ TPS players who just wants a taste of the game. It would rather disgust than thrill in my experience, which is why I haven't even really tried to get in. The game will be here soon enough (less than a month now), and I will have a fresh and brand new experience, the way it is meant to be, wherehas the frantic MP players will not have the same feel (on the other hand, they will have experienced the game in its MP form earlier).

Imo, the MP beta/demos aren't for everyone, that is all

In COD (and most likely UN2) you don't even have to be good . . . just play and you'll rank up . . . more slowly than a good player, but you'll get there . . .
Prestige helps level things out if players go that route . . .

I'm quite sure the final version of the game includes a matchmaking feature which will automatically put you into a game with people of the same/similar skill level.

It avoids noob frustration and makes sure advanced players don't get easy kills...

So don't worry too much.

Anyway, I'll see if I can find out if the matchmaking made the retail release or if it will be in a day zero patch...

Definitely a good point, currently the easiest way to get into the demo/beta is to pre-order it. Only hardcore gamers really bother with that kind of stuff which means the player skill level is much higher than it will be for the retail release.

I agree. I was able to jump to level 3 in Uncharted 2 in one game. I will say I was familiar, as I'm sure like the others, with the Village and Square map because of the earlier beta.
I got my ass kicked in Ice Caves at first, but now that I know the map, like Temple it's easier and more enjoyable to play.

So yes play the Game(It is just a game after all) and have fun. You will get better.

Sounds cool. The game seems to try to skill-balance incoming players somewhat, but it can get a bit lop-sided when some players are partied-up.

I've played several games with low ranking players(lvl 7,8,9) who schooled players in their 30's. You have to get to know the maps, and once you do, it does level the playing field considerably.

Shin-Ra said it wisely. " Learn from your mistakes", don't go out and do the same thing again if it didn't work for you the first time.
After being killed several times with the pistole in the sniper pistole match, I figured out when moving switch to pistole for close kills, but when away from the action use your sniper. I tried killing people in close range with the sniper rifle and failed miserably. They would one shot kill me with the pistole. You'll notice in Ice Caves during that type of match everyone will be running around with the pistole, so people are adapting, you just have to do it also.

Love it !!!

What's even funnier is when the person is on a mic and you hear them say " Oh sh** ". Or you get the player who see's you and they don't know what to do with the risk of getting pulled off.
Do I try to kick them ?
Do I try to shoot them ?
Do I run off ?

I myself will run off and come back behind them and take them out.

lol, yea I find it hilarious when I kick someone who is climbing up a ledge, sadly I was able to do it once tho. As for the pulling people off a ledge one, I don't find it hilarious, mainly because i'm usually the one who gets pulled in to my death, haha.

See, I dont get that attitude....One of my friends (pimp!!!!) has a 50 already and just about every match we win ends with guys going and make comments like 'get a life' and I'm like: your insulting a guy that is good and loves the game! What the heck is wrong with that? I think its awesome!

Anyway, the issue with Matching has a lot to do with the small amt of people on the Beta. Ive seen no more than 2000 at at time...so there is less people to match...If millions buy the game, that will be a much larger group to match...

If the MP for this game is too challenging for you, move on to something else.

With regards to the level matching of players....

Everyone has to remember that there are only a few thousand people at most playing this demo at any given time right now. I'm sure there isn't much for the system to work with given the short window of matchmaking opportunity. Thus, the system will be putting anyone it can find in those "Finding Player" slots.

Be certain that with the release of the open demo on Sept 29th, that level matching issue will definitely become more noticeable with 300,000+ players online all at once.

What, you can kick people down? Was this in the first beta? I never saw that happen once but I did pull people down quite a bit.
