Tommy Lee Jones was like the only really campy thing in it. Which is funny considering what he said to Jim Carrey.

I always saw Batman Forever's Poison Ivy, the very over the top Riddler by Carrey, and Tom Jones as Two Face as very over the top and cartoony compared to the prior 2 Keaton films. Penguin DeVito was over the top too, but the atmosphere was more dark and gloomy.
Batman & Robin, very over the top live-action cartoonish movie, but if looked at in the style of Adam West's 60's era Batman, a fun movie in that way. I didn't go see it in theaters back then as it looked too cheesy for the Batman style I was hoping for. |

Keaton Batman in The Flash was a good farewell for his character I'll say. |

This. Batman has been around for decades and has been all sorts of tones, styles, etc. You can have your own preferences but there's very little they could do that wouldn't "fit" the character. This is also why the "Batman doesn't kill" debate is so pointless.

The Reeves Batman personally I think got its tone/setting spot on for a "serious" version of the character. Its elevated just enough that you can accept a man dressing as a Bat as something which whilst viewed as out of the ordinary isnt just silly. It does actually make Gothham itself a location which aids the tone of the story as well as the Burton films did whilst Nolan I think ended up with rather too simple realism. |

I like the batsuit in black with the yellow batsymbol too, and this The Batman suit too.
I wonder what it'll look like in this new film? They almost always switch it up each film to keep things interesting. For Gunn's Batman if that happens, I really want to see the classic Blue, gray and yellow colors of the Batman suit. That would be really great for a change of pace. I can see Gunn's DC going that route. |

I would say that Gunn's style as well isnt THAT camp, he includes plenty of larger than life elements in his films but the central drama of them tends to be pretty serious and quite down to earth focusing on things like family issues.
Having two very different takes on Batman at once though, I don't see the problem in that at all provided their both good. In this day and age the general public can almost certainly tell them apart. |

In the press interviews for the Darren Aronofsky's Caught Stealing, Zoe Kravitz's rep asked interviewers not to ask her about The Batman 2 because she isn't in it.
Could be the rep lying though. |

Batman Forever and Batman and Robin were like the Batman TV show 1966
Gunn’s Batman will also take inspiration from 1966 as his Superman is like the mid 60s DC comic books. The minute he put Krypto the Dog in, was the same as Lucas putting in Jar Jar Binks in the SW Prequels. Personally I think it’s stupid to have competing Batman films from the same company. Matt Reeves succeeded far better with The Batman than Gunn has with Superman 2025. The Batman far superior film than Superman 2025, in my opinion. |

Yeah it’s too serious for what Gunn has created.!Superman is such a fun film, can’t wait to see what Batman is like in the Gunnverse.

I don't know, Gunn himself said that their universe with cover all kinds of genres/tones, and it all comes down to the script. [This was in response to the Clayface film being deemed more horror than anything]. So Reeves' Batman very well could fit. Though I prefer that it stays separate

The latter might actually work quite well IMHO, Batman as a kind of Amazing Randi like debunker. |
