People have stated the LionsGate French 7.1 is better than the SS 5.1, but I have not personally compared them. Also, the LG has the English dub which the SS does not.

On top of that, just checked in the International thread and found a comparison between the Plaion and SS where the Plaion completely trounced SS. Sure enough, the SS was encoded by Silversun, not FiM. I don’t think anyone’s checked out the PQ of the Lionsgate, but I’m confident it’ll be better than a Silversun encode. Plus the audio options, I think the Lionsgate’s probably the one to get.

I don't think the encoding is the issue with the SS release, it's the HDR grading. The Plaion grade is more punchy, while SS went for a more restrained look. It comes down to personal preference imo.

As for what look LG went with, seeing as they ported the extras from the SS release and even carried over their HDR+ option, I think it should be pretty obvious.

Anyone have any 4K caps from the new LG? I’m curious if it’ll basically have the color grading of the SS but with a better encode like the Plaion.
