there were some intriguing cases this season and I didn't mind revisiting Jack the Ripper, like Ocean said there was some info in there I wasn't aware of, and Mothman.
I do remember the original Mothman episode from watching Unsolved Mysteries and when the Richard Gere film came out I went further down that rabbit hole. I had no idea about these recent stories and sightings, even if THF points out, they were blue cranes. In general, I still like to watch and make my mind up but all the witnesses in this episode fit a stereotype. While I was watching I couldn't help but wish for more paranormal focused episodes as unsolved murder shows are a dime a dozen at this point but then it got me to thinking that since cable tv has only gotten bigger since Unsolved Mysteries first run, there is a whole cottage industry for paranormal shows, investigations, docs, that also expand to the internet and social media. The nostalgia in me had me hyped for Unsolved Mysteries return but I just don't know that there is a slot for them in an overcrowded market anymore unless the stories are really intriguing. |

Read on the Official Unsolved Mysteries Facebook page earlier today that Volume Four, Part Two (it's being classed as a fifth season, but from what I've read it is the second part of a fourth produced season) will be made available on Netflix on Wednesday, October 2nd.
I finally watched the "Mothman Revisited" edition recently, and while I find the Mothman stuff fascinating, I thought it was the weakest edition of the first half of Volume Four. |

^ Agreed, I was all about the Ghost episodes as a kid, even have the Ghosts DVD set they released.
That said, I think the show overall worked so much better in those 10-15 minute segments and getting a variety each episode. The new show just feels like Dateline. |

The new format is growing on me. Different, but not bad.

Watched last weekend the first two editions from Volume Four, Part Two. Thought "The Park Bench Murders" was very good (an intriguing mystery), but I didn't know what to make of "My Paranormal Partner" (it reminded me of Most Haunted, which was a series I enjoyed watching though).

On-and-off I've checked to see if Netflix have ordered another season of the Unsolved Mysteries reboot. Things have gone rather quiet since last fall/autumn when the second part of the fourth produced volume was made available. Hoping another season (a second) of similar series Files of the Unexplained gets made as well (think that's what it was called).
As this thread is about the reboot, would it be fine to start a TV Shows sub-forum thread for the original Unsolved Mysteries series? Have done a thread search and can only find one for the reboot series. |
